Microsatellite markers are frequently used to explore the population genetic structure of organisms. Spider mites (genus Tetranychus) are important agricultural pests. Several markers have been developed for T. urticae, but for other spider mites, few such markers are available, hampering studies of their population genetics.

Fogging can control Tetranychus urticae on greenhouse cucumbers
Journal of Pest Science, 2004The effect of a fogging system on interactions between Tetranychus urticae and Phytoseiulus persimilis was studied in two cucumber greenhouses in northern Italy. The greenhouses were divided into two compartments, one (referred to as fog area) was humidified using a fogging system and the other was not humidified (no fog area).

Demography of the twospotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch
Oecologia, 1982A simple life table model was constructed for Tetranychus urticae in which daily survivorship of eggs and motil stages, fecundity, and development time was altered to assess the impact of each parameter on the intrinsic rate of increase. r. Interpretation of the trade-offs focused on management considerations.A second aspect of the study concerned age ...

Relationships between Tetranychus urticae Koch and some plant viruses
Virology, 1968Abstract None of 9 plant viruses tested were transmitted by Tetranychus urticae Koch following short or long acquisition feeding periods. However, the presence in mites of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), potato virus X (PVX), onion yellow dwarf virus, and tomato bushy stunt virus could be demonstrated by means of bioassay, serology, and/or electron ...

Morphology and functions of muscles of Tetranychus urticae C. L. Koch . mouth organs and legs I are described. Chelicerae (stylofor) protractor muscles previously unknown in T. urticae are found and a supposition on their origin is advanced. It is shown that chelicerae protraction and perforation plant tissue is realized by different muscles at three ...
