Text Categorization and Relational Learning

We evaluate the first order learning system FOIL on a series of text categorization problems. It is shown that FOIL usually forms classifiers with lower error rates and higher rates of precision and recall with a relational encoding than with a propositional encoding.

CDM: AN APPROACH TO LEARNING IN TEXT CATEGORIZATION

The Category Discrimination Method (CDM) is a new machine learning algo rithm designed specifically for text categorization. The motivation is there are sta tistical problems associated with natural language text when it is applied as input to existing machine learning algorithms (too much noise, too many features, skewed distribution).

Categorization of news articles using neural text categorizer

This research proposes the application of NTC (Neural Text Categorizer) for categorizing news articles. Even if the research on text categorization has been progressed very much, documents should be still encoded into numerical vectors. Encoding so causes the two main problems: huge dimensionality and sparse distribution.
