Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Context-based compression methods are the most powerful approaches to squeeze arbitrary textual data. They offer a good predictive model for the subsequent data based on the already seen one, without assuming any probability distribution for the input ...

An Online Algorithm for Lightweight Grammar-Based Compression
Grammar-based compression is a well-studied technique to construct a context-free grammar (CFG) deriving a given text uniquely. In this work, we propose an online algorithm for grammar-based compression.

Querying and Embedding Compressed Texts [PDF]
The computational complexity of two simple string problems on compressed input strings is considered: the querying problem (What is the symbol at a given position in a given input string?) and the embedding problem (Can the first input string be embedded into the second input string?). Straight-line programs are used for text compression.

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

New Text Compression Method Based on Direct Solution Method Neural Networks
The aim of this work is to create a text compression technique using a single layer neural networks trained using direct solution method. In this work, the text is made as desired output and the weights are pre-defined then, by using the direct ...

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...
