Additive Manufacturing of Hot Work Tool Steel by Laser Powder Bed Fusion Utilizing Powder Mixtures Including Grinding Chips: Assessing Chemical Homogeneity and Achievable Hardness

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grinding chips of high‐alloyed steel are prepared to be admixed to a starting powder mixture for laser powder bed fusion. A three‐stage preparation is performed, including washing in acetone, magnetic separation, and ball milling. The addition of 30% of grinding chips to the powder mixture allows the fabrication of dense samples.

Non-Planar 3D Printed Elements on Textile Substrate Using a Fused Filament Fabrication 3D Printer

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2022
Adhesion between additively printed elements on textiles is one of the most important quality characteristics. Applied elements must form very good adhesion with the textile substrate in order to produce functional textiles.

Active Thermal Field Integration for Marangoni‐Driven Salt Rejection and Water Collection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermal gradient fabric (TGF) evaporator with an auxiliary active thermal field can simultaneously increase evaporation rates and achieve long‐term salt rejection. The auxiliary active thermal field is well integrated with solar energy to construct moderate, extensive, and circulating Marangoni flow for salt rejection.
