Distributed Micropneumatic Sensors for Soft Robots to Detect Touch and Pose

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Soft robots need integrated touch and pose sensing for safe and reliable operation. This work presents a three‐fingered soft gripper with 18 micropneumatic sensors made from the same materials as its pneumatic actuators. By measuring airflow resistance changes in deforming microchannels of the sensors, finger pose and contact are detected, enabling ...

Application of Cyclodextrins in Textile Dyeing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
1.1 Dyeing auxiliaries Auxiliaries are compounds which are not an integral part of the dyeing process but by adding them to the dye bath the dyeing can be improved. The main functions of auxiliaries are to prepare or improve the substrate in readiness for colorants (by wetting, providing sorption sites, improving or resisting the migration of dyes), to

Metal‐Half‐Salen Chemistry for One‐Pot Mineralization on Hydrophobic Polymer Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here we report a versatile one‐pot synthetic strategy for organic–inorganic composite membranes, which leverages a metal half‐Salen system to precisely govern the competing kinetics of coordination and hydrolysis. In contrast to conventional two‐step metal‐phenol chemistries, our integrated approach substantially simplifies the fabrication process ...

Waterless textile dyeing

open access: yes, 2013

Conditionally Significant eQTL and TWAS Analyses Identify MsRD26 as a Major Candidate Positive Regulator of Salt Tolerance in Medicago sativa L

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Salt stress significantly impacts plant growth. Through population transcriptome, eQTL and TWAS analyses, we identified several candidate genes potentially associated with salt stress response. Functional assays suggested that some of these genes may contribute to salt tolerance.
