Boosting based text and non-text region classification

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
Layout analysis is a crucial process for document image understanding and information retrieval. Document layout analysis depends on page segmentation and block classification. This paper describes an algorithm for extracting blocks from document images and a boosting based method to classify those blocks as machine printed text or not.

A Text Based Talking Face

2000
Facial expressions and speech are means to convey information. They can be used to reinforce speech or even complementary to speech. The main goal of our research is to investigate how facial expressions can be associated to text-based speech in an automated way.

A Method of Text Block Division Based on Text Segmentation

2013 10th Web Information System and Application Conference, 2013
In the paper, we proposed a method called text block division based on text segmentation. Through steps like discourse structure analysis, relevance score computation and features' significance estimate, we divide the entire text into several blocks, each block containing common topic events.

Text Classification of Technical Papers Based on Text Segmentation

2013
The goal of this research is to design a multi-label classification model which determines the research topics of a given technical paper. Based on the idea that papers are well organized and some parts of papers are more important than others for text classification, segments such as title, abstract, introduction and conclusion are intensively used in

A Fuzzy-Based Approach for Text Representation in Text Categorization

The 14th IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2005. FUZZ '05., 2005
Document representation is one of the most important tasks in text processing, especially in text categorization. This task has many applications that include document management, information retrieval, text routing, etc. In this paper, the author proposes a novel scheme for text representation based on fuzzy set theory.
