Effect of Phosphating and Post-sealing on the Corrosion Resistance of Electro - galvanized steel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2017
To improve the corrosion resistance of electro-galvanized (EG) steel, the EG steel was initially treated by utilizing the phosphating with phosphate and then sealed by the technique of post-sealing with silicate solution.

Texture Particles

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, 2002
This paper presents an analytical extension of texture synthesis techniques based on the distribution of elementary texture components. Our approach is similar to the bombing, cellular, macrostructured and lapped textures techniques, but provides the user with more control on both the texture analysis and synthesis phases.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Quasi-in-situ observation: study on the evolution of the brass-texture in oriented silicon steel during the process of normalizing annealing

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The presence of the brass texture ({110}) impairs the magnetic properties of oriented silicon steel. However, the mechanism governing the evolution of this texture during normalizing annealing remains unresolved.

Precipitation Simulations of the O‐Phase in Ti2AlNb Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Simulated and experimental evolution of the O‐phase volume fraction during postprocessing of a Ti‐21Al‐25Nb (at.%) alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion. With results of sensitivity to input parameters from a thorough and quantified analysis, the interfacial energy matrix/precipitate is the most relevant input parameter for the simulation of the O‐

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...

Self-adapted clustering of solute atoms into a confined two-dimensional prismatic platelet with an ellipse-like quasi-unit cell

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2018
This paper reports a new structured prismatic platelet, self-assembled by an ellipse-like quasi-unit cell, precipitated in Mg–In–Yb and Mg–In–Ca ternary alloys and aged isothermally at 200°C using aberration-corrected high-angle annular dark-field ...

Defect Evolution and Mechanical Performance of Fused Filament Fabrication‐Manufactured 17‐4PH Stainless Steel Revealed by X‐Ray Computed Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography reveals how process‐induced defects evolve from green to sintered states in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)‐manufactured 17‐4PH stainless steel. Internal porosity, weakest cross‐sections, and fracture locations show strong correlation with tensile performance, demonstrating the potential of computed tomography (CT)‐based ...
