Histogram Layers for Texture Analysis [PDF]
An essential aspect of texture analysis is the extraction of features that describe the distribution of values in local, spatial regions. We present a localized histogram layer for artificial neural networks. Instead of computing global histograms as done previously, the proposed histogram layer directly computes the local, spatial distribution of ...

Feasibility of the Quantitative Assessment Method for CT Quality Control in Phantom Image Evaluation
Computed tomography (CT) quality control (QC) is regularly performed with standard phantoms, to bar faulty equipment from medical use. Its accuracy may be improved by replacing qualitative methods based on good visual distinction with pixel value-based ...

AN ILLUMINATION INVARIANT TEXTURE BASED FACE RECOGNITION [PDF]
Automatic face recognition remains an interesting but challenging computer vision open problem. Poor illumination is considered as one of the major issue, since illumination changes cause large variation in the facial features.

Effects of individual and combined doses of added nitrite and nitrate on the quality of dry-fermented sausage [PDF]
Objective We aimed to investigate the impacts of nitrate and nitrite on the salami fermentation process. Methods Experimental groups of dry-fermented sausage were prepared with 100 ppm nitrite (T1), 150 ppm nitrite (T2), and 100 ppm nitrite+50 ppm ...

Texture-adaptive mother wavelet selection for texture analysis [PDF]
We discuss the use of texture-adaptive mother wavelets in an adaptive probabilistic wavelet packet approach to texture analysis. First, we present the use of adaptive biorthogonal wavelet packet bases in such ananalysis, thus combining the advantages of biorthogonal wavelets (FIR,linearphase) with those of a coherent texture model.
