Dual‐Action 3D Bioprinted Scaffolds with MXene Quantum Dots for Tumor Suppression and Breast Tissue Regeneration Postmastectomy

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 5, Issue 11, November 2025.
Four types of 3D hydrogel scaffolds—acellular, acellular with MXene quantum dots (MQDs), cellular, and cellular with MQDs—are developed for postmastectomy breast cancer therapy. Among them, the acellular MQD scaffold uniquely prevents tumor recurrence while promoting tissue regeneration, offering a dual‐function platform that may reduce reliance on ...

Harmonic generation and energy transport in dielectric and semiconductors at visible and UV wavelengths: the case of GaP

open access: yes, 2011
We study inhibition of absorption, transparency, energy and momentum transport of the inhomogeneous component of harmonic pulses in dielectrics and semiconductors, at visible and UV wavelengths, focusing on materials like GaP.

Real‐world population pharmacokinetics of tezacaftor‐ivacaftor in children with cystic fibrosis: The SYM‐CF study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 91, Issue 10, Page 2969-2978, October 2025.
Aims The clinical effectiveness of tezacaftor‐ivacaftor in children with cystic fibrosis (cwCF) varies; some patients respond while others do not or have adverse effects. The pharmacokinetics (PK) of tezacaftor‐ivacaftor are inadequately published, especially in children.

Shared Lineage, Distinct Outcomes: Yap and Taz Loss Differentially Impact Schwann and Olfactory Ensheathing Cell Development Without Disrupting GnRH‐1 Migration

open access: yesGlia, Volume 73, Issue 10, Page 2077-2097, October 2025.
Main Points OECs, SCs, and Mel derive from SCPs. Sox10Cre;YapHet;TazKO mice show impaired SC maturation, reduced Mel formation, fewer SCPs, OECs, and olfactory neurons, but normal GnRH‐1 neuron migration. ABSTRACT Olfactory Ensheathing Cells (OECs) are glial cells originating from the neural crest and are critical for bundling olfactory axons to the ...

Isolation and Characterisation of Bacteria From an Extremely High Boron and Salinity‐Tolerant Puccinellia distans (Jacq.) Parl. Rhizosphere and Their Potential Impact on the Growth of Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2025.
Under greenhouse conditions, the boron‐tolerant bacterium Pseudomonas poae demonstrated a significant enhancement in wheat growth under boron‐induced stress. These findings highlight its promising role as a sustainable biofertiliser to bolster crop productivity in boron‐affected agroecosystems.

Electromagnetic Boundary Conditions Defined in Terms of Normal Field Components

open access: yes, 2009
A set of four scalar conditions involving normal components of the fields D and B and their normal derivatives at a planar surface is introduced, among which different pairs can be chosen to represent possible boundary conditions for the electromagnetic ...

Phase‐matched electron–photon interactions enabled by 3D‐printed helical waveguides

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 14, Issue 20, Page 3279-3286, 01 October 2025.
Abstract The Smith–Purcell effect enables electromagnetic radiation across arbitrary spectral ranges by phase‐matching the diffraction orders of an optical grating with the near‐field of a moving electron. In this work, we introduce a novel approach using a helically shaped waveguide, where phase‐matching is achieved through guided light within a ...

Rethinking Cancer

open access: yesPhilosophy of Medicine
This article redefines cancer through Alfred North Whitehead’s process philosophy. Challenging models that frame cancer as a genetic error or stochastic mutation, I draw on Whitehead’s principle that “creativity is the ultimate causality.” Cancer thus ...
