Distributed refractive index sensing with cascaded TFBGs via derivative spectrum analysis
Tilted fiber Bragg gratings (TFBGs) are highly sensitive refractometric probes, but their broad cladding-mode spectra have long been considered incompatible with wavelength-division multiplexing. As a result, TFBG refractive-index sensors are generally restricted to single-point operation, despite their inherent advantages.

This work presents results of a comparison of the responses to vibration sensors based on Bragg gratings in optical fiber, being a standard fiber G-652 (FBG) and others in the same fiber, but tapered (TFBG) with diameters of 60 micrometers and 80 ...

Specificity of NY-ESO-1 Antibody Detection Using TFBG Plasmonic Sensor
peer reviewedAutoantibodies against New York esophageal squamous cell cancer 1 (NY-ESO-1) are essential for diagnosing esophageal cancer. This study introduces a surface plasmonic tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) biosensor designed to detect NY-ESO-1 ...

Directional Bend Sensor Based on Re-Grown Tilted Fiber Bragg Grating
—A novel fiber optic bend sensor is implemented by using a re-grown tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) written in a small core single mode fiber with UV overexposure. The spectrum of the re-grown TFBG contrasts with that of normal TFBG by exhibiting large

Measurements of Milli-Newton Surface Tension Forces with Tilted Fiber Bragg Gratings
Small lateral forces (lower than 0.1 N) cannot normally be measured with conventional single-mode fiber-based sensors because of the high value of their Young modulus (>70 GPa).

Tilted Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors based on Time-Domain Measurements with Microwave Photonics
Tilted fiber Bragg gratings (TFBGs) have garnered substantial research attention and have found widespread applications for sensing a diverse array of physical, chemical, and biological parameters based on optical spectrum measurements. The interrogation

We demonstrate a reflective fiber-optic sensor with a core-diameter-mismatched fiber section and cladding-mode recoupling in a tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG). High-order cladding modes are efficiently excited by either a multimode fiber or a thin-core
