Reproductive outcomes in women with Hodgkin's lymphoma in a Danish fertility preservation cohort

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 8, Page 1587-1596, August 2026.
The risk of premature ovarian insufficiency increases with the intensity of alkylating chemotherapy. In general, fertility outcomes were favorable, but chances of live birth decreased with increased intensity of alkylating chemotherapy. Ovarian tissue transplantation enabled natural conception in women with premature ovarian insufficiency, supporting ...

Infection control in the brain and the eye

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page e478-e490, August 2026.
Abstract The Central Nervous System (CNS), comprising the brain and the eye, is considered to have a ‘privileged’ mechanism for dealing with immunological challenge (immune privilege, IP). CNS IP has been revealed through experiments using foreign protein antigens and cell and tissue alloantigens (grafts), but evidence for a role for IP in modulating ...

Developmental Trends in Serum Iron, Transferrin, and Transferrin Saturation From Birth to 12 Months

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 115, Issue 8, Page 1765-1773, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim There is a need for updated reference intervals for iron status biomarkers during infancy. This study aimed to investigate reference interval trends and diurnal variation of iron, transferrin, and transferrin saturation in infants subjected to delayed cord clamping at birth (DCC). Methods Data analysis from population‐based Swedish studies,

Iron Overload: Pathophysiology, Diagnosis and Monitoring

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 747-756, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Iron overload is associated with significant health risks, underscoring the importance of understanding its pathophysiology as well as establishing accurate diagnostic and monitoring methods. Chronic iron overload is associated with either genetic disorders characterized by excessive iron accumulation (hereditary hemochromatosis), or is ...

GC B Cells, Tfh Cells, and Influenza bnAbs: Insights for Improving Universal Vaccine Design

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 341, Issue 1, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Antibodies are crucial for providing protection against influenza virus infection; however, protective humoral immunity is limited by antigenic drift and shift. Hence, the discovery of broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) targeting conserved epitopes on hemagglutinin protein evokes the hope of developing a universal influenza vaccine ...

Experimental Models of Autoimmune Hepatitis: Disease Fidelity and Translational Relevance

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) remains difficult to study mechanistically in patients because disease initiation is rarely observed directly, the relevant autoantigens differ across subsets, and clinically meaningful outcomes such as chronic inflammation, fibrosis, relapse, and treatment response evolve over time.

Sema3E‐plexinD1 Axis Is a Modulator of Foxp3+ Regulatory T‐Cells in House Dust Mite Model of Asthma

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 14, 31 July 2026.
Airway epithelial‐derived Sema3E enhances both the number and proliferation of Foxp3+ regulatory T (Treg) cells in an acute model of asthma. Mechanistically, deletion of PlexinD1, the receptor for Sema3E, specifically in Foxp3+ cells was associated with a breakdown in immune regulation in this model.
