The role of iron in normal and impaired testicular function

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Iron plays a critical role in testicular physiology, impacting spermatogenesis, testosterone production, and overall testicular function. Iron homeostasis is maintained through systemic and cellular regulatory mechanisms, including hepcidin‐mediated systemic iron control and the iron‐responsive element/iron regulatory protein (IRE/IRP) system ...

Rescaling the Developmental State: Competitive Shrinkage Governance and the Spatial Restructuring of Higher Education in South Korea

open access: yesAsia Pacific Viewpoint, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Against the backdrop of sustained demographic contraction across the Asia‐Pacific, the developmental state (DS) paradigm, long premised on growth, faces profound challenges. While existing research on shrinking regions focuses on urban planning, little attention has been paid to how the state restructures its spatial power under contraction ...

Reattempt of tyrosine kinase inhibitor discontinuation after maintenance therapy with ponatinib in patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia in the chronic phase: Result of the Japan Adult Leukemia Study Group RE‐STOP219 study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Treatment‐free remission (TFR) is now a key goal for chronic‐phase chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML‐CP) after achievement of a prolonged deep molecular response. About half of these patients can remain in remission without treatment, whereas those who relapse must resume lifelong therapy.

Fertility incentives in Canada: Period and cohort perspectives

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Economics/Revue canadienne d'économique, EarlyView.
Abstract We study the fertility effects of the 1997 Quebec Family Policy using two complementary approaches: (i) a period‐based repeated cross‐sectional analysis that examines the impact on period fertility (i.e., fertility rates in a given calendar year, such as births per 1,000 women age 15 to 49), and (ii) a cohort‐based panel analysis that examines

Reticulocyte transferrin receptor (TfR) expression and contribution to soluble TfR levels.

open access: yesHaematologica, 2001
Transferrin receptor (TfR) expression in erythroid cells is regulated by a number of factors, including iron status and erythropoietin (Epo) stimulation. However, the impact of these factors on reticulocyte TfR expression in vivo has never been studied. A soluble form of TfR (sTfR) is present in serum in proportion to the mass of cellular TfR. Although

Rendering Synthetic Defects for Learning‐Based Industrial Inspection

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Computer vision increasingly uses synthetic data from physically based rendering to supplement limited real‐world datasets. In industrial inspection, defect data is scarce and the rendering pipeline is explicitly controlled, and synthetic defect generation therefore becomes a dataset design problem.

Adapting UK Clinical Practise in Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia in Chronic Phase to Contemporary Management Recommendations: The ADAPT 2.0 Survey

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Chronic myeloid leukaemia in chronic phase (CML‐CP) treatment recommendations have changed substantially in recent years. The ADAPT 2.0 survey aimed to provide an updated understanding of CML‐CP management in the UK. Methods This healthcare professional (HCP) survey, conducted between December 2023 and June 2024, assessed treatment ...

Disruption of iron metabolism resulting from Dmt1/Slc11a2 deficiency compromises Notch protein degradation and transcriptional activation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Divalent metal transporter 1 (Dmt1) maintains iron homeostasis and lysosomal proteostasis required for physiological Notch receptor–ligand signaling. Dmt1 loss lowers iron storage capacity (ferritin), increasing intracellular Fe2+, driving ROS and lipid peroxidation, and leading to lysosomal/mitochondrial dysfunction.
