Sustainable Poly(Lactic Acid)/Graphene Oxide Bioelectronic Platform for Neurotransmitters Sensing and Tunable Stimulation of Astrocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces sustainable PLA/graphene oxide bioelectronic interfaces featuring electrodes with tunable conductivity and strong electrocatalytic performance. These platforms were used to implement a new method for tuning astrocyte Ca2+ signaling and for the efficient detection of key biomarkers.

Confinement‐Induced Donnan Potential Enables Sealed Hydrovoltaic Power From Microliter Water

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrathin MXene/cellulose nanofiber (CNF) nanochannel‐based hydrovoltaic generator produces sustained direct current (DC) from a single microliter droplet under sealed operation. Asymmetric nanochannel confinement establishes a persistent ion gradient and a confinement‐induced Donnan potential, harvesting the interfacial free energy released upon ...

Defect‐Engineered Microwave‐Responsive Ni@C Composites From Waste PET for Catalytic Plastic Upcycling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A circular upcycling strategy transforms waste poly(ethylene terephthalate) bottles into microwave‐responsive Ni@C catalyst featuring lattice‐distorted nickel cores and defective carbon shells. These strain‐rich heterointerfaces enhance dielectric loss and promote localized microwave hotspots, accelerating peroxymonosulfate activation and polymer‐chain

Engineering Metal‐Pocket Cooperativity in Single‐Atom COF Nanozymes for Selective Cascade Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A multilevel programming strategy is developed to engineer single‐atom COF nanozymes with tunable metal centers and chiral pockets inspired by heme–pocket cooperativity. This approach enables controlled metal–pocket interplay for asymmetric cascade catalysis, delivering high activity, selectivity, and recyclability in an asymmetric oxidation–aldol ...

Metastable Polymers for Circular 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
3D‐printed polymers are usually permanent and hard to recycle. Here, metastable polymers are designed to fall apart on demand. A chemical trigger unzips the printed material back into its original building blocks within minutes at room temperature.

Side‐Chain‐Induced Interlayer Slipping in Metalloporphyrin COFs Enables Microenvironment and Spin‐State Regulation for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Alkoxy chain length drives a continuous transition from eclipsed AA to a serrated, slipped AA* configuration over Co‐porphyrin COFs. A moderate slip both contracts the pore channel to enrich CO2 and suppress hydrogen evolution, and enhances collective high‐spin of Co sites, which delivers a record CO production rate with high selectivity.

Enhanced Mechanical Recycling of Polymer Mixtures by a Trifunctional Dynamic Crosslinker

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐catalyzed, trifunctional dynamic crosslinker that incorporates three desired properties into one system and is compatible with reactive extrusion can compatibilize waste plastic mixtures containing high Tm polymers and impart the recycled mixtures with superior thermoset properties such as enhanced creep resistance and thermomechanical stability

Covalent Attachment of Quaternary Ammonium Group to Geopolymer Surface With Silane Coupling Agent to Enable Simultaneous Adsorption of Cations and Anions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Modification of geopolymer surface with a silane coupling agent containing quaternary ammonium group enables the development of dual‐functioning ion exchanger for both cations and anions. In the present study, the performance of this material was demonstrated for the uptake of ammonium and nitrate from water.

Sustainable Plant‐Based Water Repellent Coatings Using Hydrophobic Pine and Palm Pollen

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A novel formulation strategy for creating superhydrophobic coatings using plant‐derived waxes and chemically treated pine and palm pollen. By employing acid modification, the hydrophobicity of the pollen surface is enhanced, resulting in water contact angles exceeding 150°.
