Thyroid hormone regulates distinct paths to maturation in pigment cell lineages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Thyroid hormone (TH) regulates diverse developmental events and can drive disparate cellular outcomes. In zebrafish, TH has opposite effects on neural crest derived pigment cells of the adult stripe pattern, limiting melanophore population expansion, yet

Schrödinger semigroups on the scale of Sobolev spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
We consider the action of semigroups e(-tH), with H = -Δ + V on L(2)(R(v)), on the scale of Sobolev spaces H(α). We show that while e(-tH) maps L(2)=H(0) to H(2) under great generality, there exist bounded V so that, for all β > 0, e(-tH)[H(β)] is not ...

Incidence and Risk Factors of Serious Osteonecrosis in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A CYP‐C Population‐Based Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Osteonecrosis (ON) is a debilitating complication of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) therapy. While numerous studies have explored its incidence and associated risk factors, investigations using large‐scale cohorts remain important to characterize ON across heterogeneous populations.

Superior Venacava Thrombus-A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of College of Medical Sciences-Nepal, 2016
Superior venacava (SVC) thrombus is a condition requiring immediate diagnosis and treatment. SVC thrombus causes obstruction of blood flow through the SVC resulting in severe decrease in venous return from the head, neck and upper extremity to the heart.

The integrable hierarchy constructed from a pair of KdV-type hierarchies and its associated $W$ algebra

open access: yes, 1994
For any two arbitrary positive integers `$n$' and `$m$', using the $m$--th KdV hierarchy and the $(n+m)$--th KdV hierarchy as building blocks, we are able to construct another integrable hierarchy (referred to as the $(n,m)$--th KdV hierarchy).

Novel Genetic Risk Factor Identified for L‐Asparaginase‐Induced Pancreatitis in Pediatric Patients With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background L‐asparaginase is a critical component in treatment protocols for pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Acute pancreatitis reactions can necessitate delays and, in some cases, discontinuation of L‐asparaginase, which compromises outcomes.

A self-controlled approach to survival analysis, with application to air pollution and mortality

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2021
Background: Many studies have reported that long-term air pollution exposure is associated with increased mortality rates. These investigations have been criticized for failure to control for omitted, generally personal, confounders.

Anthropometry of height, weight, arm, wrist, abdominal circumference and body mass index, for Bolivian adolescents 12 to 18 years: Bolivian adolescent percentile values from the MESA study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Anthropometry is important as clinical tool for individual follow-up as well as for planning and health policy-making at population level. Recent references of Bolivian Adolescents are not available.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.
