Imaging The Thalamic Reticular Nucleus at 7T

ISMRM Annual Meeting
The Thalamic Reticular Nucleus is a micro-structure surrounding the dorsal edge of the thalamus that is of fundamental significance to understanding many neurological disorders in the brain. Here we present methods to visualise the TRN using various imaging modalities to explore different sources of contrast at the edge of the thalamus.

[Structural organization of the reticular thalamic nucleus].

Morfologiia (Saint Petersburg, Russia), 2006
This review presents an analysis of current data on the structural organization of the reticular thalamic nucleus (RTN). In contains a detailed discussion on topography, cytoarchitecture, neuronal organization and neurogenesis in this nucleus.

Intrathalamic sensory connections mediated by the thalamic reticular nucleus

Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences (CMLS), 1999
The thalamus and cerebral cortex are linked together to form a vast network of interconnections. Different modes of interactions among the cells in this network underlie different states of consciousness, such as wakefulness and sleep. Interposed between the dorsal thalamus and cortex are the GABAergic neurons of the thalamic reticular nucleus (TRN ...

Organization in the somatosensory sector of the cat's thalamic reticular nucleus

The Journal of Comparative Neurology, 1996
This study describes the organization of cells in the thalamic reticular nucleus (TRN) that project to the somatosensory part of the dorsal thalamus in the cat. Injections of wheat germ agglutinin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (WGA-HRP) and fluorescent dyes were made into the ventrobasal complex (VB) and the medial division of the posterior ...

Organization in the auditory sector of the cat's thalamic reticular nucleus

The Journal of Comparative Neurology, 1998
This study describes the organization of cells in the thalamic reticular nucleus (TRN) that project to the auditory part of the cat's dorsal thalamus. Injections of wheat germ agglutinin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (WGA-HRP) and fluorescent dyes were made into the medial geniculate complex (MG).

Thalamic reticular nucleus in Caiman crocodilus: forebrain connections

Neuroscience Letters, 2016
Forebrain connections of the thalamic reticular nucleus associated with the lateral forebrain bundle were analyzed in Caiman crocodilus. Both the compact portion, the dorsal peduncular nucleus, and the diffuse part, the perireticular region, associated with the lateral forebrain bundle, were studied.

The Somatotopic Organization Within the Cat's Thalamic Reticular Nucleus

European Journal of Neuroscience, 1992
AbstractThe organization of the somatosensory representation within the cat's thalamic reticular nucleus (TRN) was studied. Focal injections of horseradish peroxidase (HRP), wheatgerm agglutinin conjugated to HRP, and/or [3H]proline were made into somatosensory cortical areas 1 (S1) and 2 (S2).

A mixed electrical and chemical synapse in the thalamic reticular nucleus

Journal of Neurophysiology
Combined electrical and chemical coupling is demonstrated in a single couple of thalamic reticular nucleus (TRN) neurons. Single action potentials in one neuron resulted in a spikelet [electrical postsynaptic potential (ePSP)] followed by a longer lasting hyperpolarization [from an inhibitory postsynaptic potential (IPSP)] in the target neuron.
