Regulation of Immune Checkpoints: From Molecular Mechanisms to Clinical Therapies

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer treatment by unleashing antitumor immunity. This review comprehensively examines the molecular mechanisms underlying key immune checkpoints—including PD‐1/PD‐L1, CTLA‐4, and TIM‐3—and their clinical applications.

Gastric Cancer: Pathobiology and Therapeutics

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Gastric cancer is a multistep process driven by the interplay of microbial virulence, host epithelial injury, and evolving molecular reprogramming. Initiation involves pathogen‐induced epigenetic alterations and the early subversion of key oncogenic signaling networks, facilitating the transition from chronic injury to metaplasia and malignant ...

Prospective assessment of regional myocardial perfusion before and after coronary revascularization surgery by Quantitative Thallium-201 scintigraphy

open access: yes, 1983
Because thallium-201 uptake relates directly to the amount of viable myocardium and nutrient blood flow, the potential for exercise scintigraphy to predict response to coronary revascularization surgery was investigated in 47 consecutive patients.

Mapping Immunity With Cutting‐Edge Spatial Biology and Tissue Cytometry Innovations

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review explores how spatial biology integrates multiplexed imaging and tissue cytometry to reveal immune organization within native tissue contexts. ABSTRACT The immune system operates within organized tissue landscapes, where spatial relationships between cells shape the nature and outcome of immune responses.

Split dose thallium-201 dipyridamole imaging: A new technique for obtaining thallium images before and immediately after an intervention

open access: yes, 1983
A technique for performing thallium-201 imaging after two separate injections of the tracer, closely spaced temporally, was developed (split dose thallium technique). Thirty patients were studied; 23 had significant coronary artery disease and 7 did not.

Oxidative Stress in the Tumor Immune Microenvironment: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Perspectives

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Oxidative stress is involved in several key processes in cancer, including redox regulation, DNA damage, post‐translational modifications, transcriptional regulation, epigenetic modifications, metabolic reprogramming, cell death, and immune modulation. These mechanisms collectively influence tumor progression, immune evasion, and therapeutic responses,

An Evaluation of Thallium-201 as a Tumour Imaging Agent [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
I evaluated thalllum-201 chloride as a tumour imaging agent. I studied the time course of Tl--201 uptake in various tumours in order to establish the best time for imaging tumours following injection of the tracer.

Effects of farming practices on the performance of fish pond polyculture assessed by trophic modeling

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract This study aimed to identify species compositions that use resources more efficiently and recommend management practices for extensive and semi‐intensive pond polyculture by modeling food webs and calculating performance indicators. We monitored 8 polyculture fish ponds managed by fish farmers that had contrasting fish species compositions in ...

Selective loss of Cx40 and conduction abnormalities underlie enhanced atrial fibrillation susceptibility in a HFpEF model in male mice

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 11, June 2026.
Abstract Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is frequently complicated by atrial fibrillation (AF), yet the mechanisms underlying AF vulnerability prior to or independent of extensive structural remodeling remain incompletely understood.
