Lithium-induced EEG changes in patients with affective disorders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In 12 patients with affective disorders (ICD-10: F31, F32, F33), EEGs were recorded before and after 4.4 months of lithium treatment. Effects of lithium on the EEG were analyzed by power spectral analysis controlled for vigilance.

FlashAbacus: A Self-Governing Flash-Based Accelerator for Low-Power Systems

open access: yes, 2018
Energy efficiency and computing flexibility are some of the primary design constraints of heterogeneous computing. In this paper, we present FlashAbacus, a data-processing accelerator that self-governs heterogeneous kernel executions and data storage ...

Fast Nonnegative Matrix Factorization Algorithms Using Projected Gradient Approaches for Large‐Scale Problems

open access: yesComputational Intelligence and Neuroscience, Volume 2008, Issue 1, 2008., 2008
Recently, a considerable growth of interest in projected gradient (PG) methods has been observed due to their high efficiency in solving large‐scale convex minimization problems subject to linear constraints. Since the minimization problems underlying nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) of large matrices well matches this class of minimization ...

Experimental and Analytical Power Flow in Beams Using a Scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer

open access: yesShock and Vibration, Volume 3, Issue 5, Page 325-336, 1996., 1995
An experimental spatial power‐flow (ESPF) method is presented. This method provides a spatially continuous model of the power‐flow vector field derived from experimental measurements. The power‐flow vector field clearly indicates locations of energy sources and sinks as well as paths of energy transmission.

Waves, Solids, and Nonlinearities

open access: yesShock and Vibration, Volume 2, Issue 2, Page 173-190, 1995., 1994
In this article nonlinearity is taken as a basic property of continua or any other wave‐bearing system. The analysis includes the conventional wave propagation problems and also the wave phenomena that are not described by traditional hyperbolic mathematical models.

Characterisation of phenotypic patterns in equine exercise‐associated myopathies

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 57, Issue 2, Page 347-361, March 2025.
Abstract Background Equine exercise‐associated myopathies are prevalent, clinically heterogeneous, generally idiopathic disorders characterised by episodes of myofibre damage that occur in association with exercise. Episodes are intermittent and vary within and between affected horses and across breeds.

The behavior of solutions of non‐linear differential equations in Hilbert space. I

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 143-165, 1988., 1988
This paper deals with the behavior of solutions of ordinary differential equations in a Hilbert Space. Under certain conditions, we obtain lower estimates or upper estimates (or both) for the norm of solutions of two kinds of equations. We also obtain results about the uniqueness and the quasi‐uniqueness of the Cauchy problems of these equations.

Changes of Ataxia, Spontaneous Movement and the Cerebellar Noradrenaline System with Aging in Ataxic Mice

open access: yesExperimental Animals, 1986
Changes of cerebellar weight, spontaneous movement and ataxia with aging were investigated in Weaver and cytosine arabinoside-injected mice (Ara-C). In addition, changes of cerebellar NA and MHPG concentrations in both mice were measured by high performance liquid chromatography. Cerebellar weight increased with aging in both mice.

Scaling and merging macromolecular diffuse scattering with mdx2

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 80, Issue 5, Page 299-313, May 2024.
mdx2 is a Python toolkit for processing diffuse scattering data from macromolecular crystals. Here, the multi‐crystal scaling and merging procedures implemented in the latest version of mdx2 are described. A high‐redundancy data set from cubic insulin is processed to reveal weak scattering features.Diffuse scattering is a promising method to gain ...

A weakly stable algorithm for general Toeplitz systems

open access: yes, 1995
We show that a fast algorithm for the QR factorization of a Toeplitz or Hankel matrix A is weakly stable in the sense that R^T.R is close to A^T.A. Thus, when the algorithm is used to solve the semi-normal equations R^T.Rx = A^Tb, we obtain a weakly ...
