open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The acquisition of silver was a key motive propelling the Viking expansion out of Scandinavia; identifying the sources of Viking silver during the early part of the Viking Age can provide critical insights into the relative significance of western European and eastern, Islamic wealth in the Viking expansion.

Changing impact of large-scale atmospheric circulation variability on the water mass exchange and circulation of the Baltic Sea during winters 1950–2022

open access: yesJournal of the European Meteorological Society
The winter climate of northern Europe is influenced by the variability of large-scale pressure systems that control the airflow over the region, namely NAO+, NAO-, SCAND, and the Atlantic Ridge. The positive phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO+)

Refining the timing of Middle Pleistocene (MIS 12 to MIS 6) ice advances into northern central Europe: sedimentological analysis and single‐grain luminescence dating of glaciotectonic complexes and tunnel‐valley fills

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.
