Modeling and Forecasting of Bohai Sea Ice
Journal of Cold Regions Engineering, 2000The sea ice model for simulating ice growth, decay, and drift in the Bohai Sea was developed based on the ice conditions in the Sea and on existing sea ice models. Both dynamic and thermodynamic processes of sea ice are incorporated into the model. The viscous-plastic constitutive law is applied to estimate the internal ice stress.

Feeding activities of zooplankton in the Bohai Sea
Fisheries Oceanography, 1998The Bohai Sea was the site of the Chinese national GLOBEC programme. During the June 1997 cruises of R/V Science No.1, observations and experiments on zooplankton feeding were conducted. At five 48 h time‐series stations the following observations and measurements on zooplankton were carried out: (1) diurnal vertical migration, by collecting samples at

The observed currents in summer in the Bohai Sea
Chinese Journal of Oceanology and Limnology, 2008A harmonic method was used to analyze the tidal currents observed in summer at 11 stations made from 1996 to 2001 in the Bohai Sea, China. Data was compared among different instruments and intervals. Elliptic elements were calculated based on harmonic constants, of which vertical distributions of the maximum speed and rotation direction were discussed ...

Biogeochemical Processes of the Bohai Sea
2010In this chapter the biogeochemical processes in the Bohai Sea are described. The main contents deal with the distributions, transformation, and their controlling factors of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, silicon, and pollutants such as heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the seawaters and sediments.

Distribution of Alexandrium fundyense and A. pacificum (Dinophyceae) in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea
Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2015This study characterizes the distribution of two closely related, causative species of paralytic shellfish poisoning – Alexandrium fundyense and A. pacificum – within the Yellow Sea (YS) and Bohai Sea (BS). These two Alexandrium species are distinguished for the first time in a regional field study using species-specific, quantitative PCR (qPCR) based ...

Occurrence of microplastics in the beach sand of the Chinese inner sea: the Bohai Sea
Environmental Pollution, 2016The occurrence of microplastics in the beach sand of the Bohai Sea was investigated for the first time. The Bohai Sea is the largest Chinese inner sea and its coastal region is one of the most densely urbanized and industrialized zones of China. Samples from three costal sites (i.e., Bijianshan, Xingcheng and Dongdaihe) were collected, quantified and ...

Distributions of dimethylsulfide in the Bohai sea and Yellow Sea of China.
Journal of environmental sciences (China), 2004Dimethylsulfide (DMS) measurements in the surface seawater of China eastern coastline were conducted during March 9-10, 1993 in Bohai Sea along the cruise from Dalian to Tianjin and during September 24-25, 1994 in Yellow Sea along the cruise from Shanghai to Qingdao.

Sea ice detection with TanDEM-X SAR data in the Bohai Sea
2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016The TanDEM-X constellation is served by two X-band SAR satellites, which fly in close orbit formation acting as a large and flexible single-pass radar interferometer. This paper investigates the potentials for monitoring sea ice in the Bohai Sea with the unique constellation.

Historical earthquakes and a tsunami in Bohai Sea
Acta Seismologica Sinica, 2007Quantitative analysis on seismicity showed that there are several seismic dense zones in Bohai Sea. These seismic dense zones of modern small earthquakes behave prominent NE orientation, although a seismic dense zone with NW direction exists actually.

A Lagrangian model of Circulation in Bohai Sea
1994The Bohai Sea is a typical shallow sea. The modeling of the time mean circulation in the Bohai Sea and a more thorough understanding of its dynamics are of interest. The problem of winter circulation in the Bohai Sea is referable to the physics of sea-ice and will be not discussed in this chapter.
