A Statistical Shape Modeling Approach for the Derivation of a Data‐Driven Geometry‐Aware Lumped Arterial Stenosis Model

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 42, Issue 2, February 2026.
A data‐driven workflow for constructing a geometry‐aware lumped arterial stenosis model: Statistical shape modeling extracts geometry‐specific shape modes from synthetically generated coronary lesion geometries. Large‐scale 3D CFD simulations over varying Reynolds numbers yield the geometries their viscous (Kv) and inertial (Kt) loss coefficients. Then,

Resolving Interpretation Challenges in Machine Learning Feature Selection With an Iterative Approach in Biomedical Pain Data

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Machine learning (ML) is increasingly used to analyse pain‐related data, emphasising how well variables classify individuals, that is, training an algorithm to assign people to predefined groups such as high versus low pain sensitivity, rather than focusing on p‐values.

The Neural Organization of Visual Information in the Auditory Cortex of the Congenitally Deaf

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 2, February 1, 2026.
Using fMRI and pRF modeling, we show that visual spatial information is represented in the auditory cortex of congenital deaf individuals through deactivation signals. These negative BOLD responses suggest a novel mechanism of cross‐modal plasticity.

Immunophenotypic abnormality quantification refines multiparameter flow cytometry‐based measurable residual disease testing in adults allografted for acute myeloid leukemia in morphologic remission

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 10, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Flow cytometry‐based measurable residual disease (MRD) testing is routinely used in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), but methodologies need refinement to optimize assay characteristics. Here, we examined 1215 adults with AML or myelodysplastic syndrome/AML allografted in morphologic remission to study how the type(s) of leukemic blasts and degree/

Reconsidering climatic predictors for high‐resolution niche models of alpine plants

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 2, February 2026.
The increasingly acknowledged and consequently also better understood microclimatic variability in terrestrial ecosystems has motivated a call for finer spatial resolution in species distribution modelling, especially in the case of sedentary low‐stature organisms such as plants.

Improved Inverse Identification of Anisotropic Polymer Properties via FEMU and VFM With Sensitivity Analysis

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 66, Issue 2, Page 689-702, February 2026.
Heterogeneous biaxial testing for anisotropic elastic properties identification from full displacement field. ABSTRACT The stretch‐blowing process of PET bottles induces significant anisotropy in mechanical properties due to the differential elongation of macromolecular chains.

Missing Value Imputation With Adversarial Random Forests—MissARF

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 3-5, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Handling missing values is a common challenge in biostatistical analyses, typically addressed by imputation methods. We propose a novel, fast, and easy‐to‐use imputation method called missing value imputation with adversarial random forests (MissARF), based on generative machine learning, that provides both single and multiple imputation ...

Dual‐function, Reusable, and Flexible Thermal Interface for Kinetic Monitoring of In Vitro Bioassays

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 3, 9 February 2026.
This work presents a reusable, dual‐function thermal interface for non‐contact, label‐free sensing and microwell‐independent temperature control in microplates within a single element. Real‐time monitoring of E. coli growth and the response to antibiotic treatment demonstrates the sensor's enhanced sensitivity in interface‐dominated processes compared ...
