Jovian plasma torus interaction with Europa. Plasma wake structure and effect of inductive magnetic field: 3D Hybrid kinetic simulation

open access: yes, 2012
The hybrid kinetic model supports comprehensive simulation of the interaction between different spatial and energetic elements of the Europa moon-magnetosphere system with respect a to variable upstream magnetic field and flux or density distributions of

Electromagnetic atmosphere-plasma coupling: the global atmospheric electric circuit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A description is given of the global atmospheric electric circuit operating between the Earth’s surface and the ionosphere. Attention is drawn to the huge range of horizontal and vertical spatial scales, ranging from 10−9 m to 1012 m, concerned with the ...

On the Electrical Conductivity of the Upper Atmosphere

open access: yesJournal of geomagnetism and geoelectricity, 1950
The paper deals with the problem of the electrical conductivity supported by the upper atmospheric ionization, to which the diurnal variation of terrestrial magnetism is attributed in the dynamo theory. Number densities of free electrons and ions and their collision frequencies are substantially important for the evaluation of the vertical distribution

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Periodic modulation of gas giant magnetospheres by the neutral upper atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2006
Periodic signatures present in the magnetospheres of both Jupiter and Saturn have yet to be fully explained. At Jupiter the unexplained signatures are related to emissions from the Io torus ("System IV"); at Saturn they are observed in emissions of ...

Electrical properties of Ba2(In1-x Al x )2O5 solid solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The electric conductivity of perovskite-like Ba2(In 1-x Al x )2O5 solid solutions (0 < x ≤ 0.20) characterized by structural disordering in the oxygen sublattice was studied as a function of temperature and partial pressure of oxygen in an atmosphere ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

THE MAIN SCENARIOS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ATMOSPHERIC-ELECTRIC VARIATIONS IN THE SURFACE ATMOSPHERE DURING SEVERE FROSTS IN SIBERIA [PDF]

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2019
The influence of strong temperature drops in the cold season, which are accompanying by fogs (smogs), on the meteorological and atmospheric-electric state of the atmosphere surface layer in Siberia was considered.

Temperature dependence of Cu:SnO2 film conductivity in air medium

open access: yesФизико-химические аспекты изучения кластеров, наноструктур и наноматериалов, 2023
Temperature conductivity studies of films based on Cu:SnO2 made by magnetron sputtering of the mixed target CuO/SnO2 have been carried out. Temperature conductivity dependencies were substantially nonlinear.
