Benchmark results for the critical slab and sphere problem in one-speed neutron transport theory

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2011
In this paper benchmark numerical results for the one-speed criticality problem with isotropic scattering for the slab and sphere are reported. The Fredholm integral equations of the second kind based on the Case eigenfunction formalism are numerically solved by Neumann iterations with the Double Exponential quadrature.

The solution of the third form transport equation using singular eigenfunctions: the slab and the sphere criticality problems

Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 2000
Abstract A singular eigenfunction approach is used to solve the classical slab and the sphere criticality problems. This approach is based on the use of the infinite medium Green's function which is obtained by the method of elementary solutions in the C N equations, that is in the third form of the transport equation.

The reflected critical slab problem for one-speed neutrons with strongly anisotropic scattering

Kerntechnik, 2008
Abstract The Chebyshev polynomial approximation is used to solve the reflected critical slab problem for one-speed neutrons in a slab with strongly anisotropic scattering. The scattering kernel which is a combination of backward-forward-isotropic scattering and linearly anisotropic scattering is chosen in a uniform finite slab.

The effect of anisotropic scattering on the critical slab problem in neutron transport theory using a synthetic kernel

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1977
The effect of widely differing scattering laws on the critical thickness of a multiplying slab in one-speed neutron transport theory is studied using a scattering kernel which consists of a linear combination of backward, forward and isotropic scattering.

Solution of the finite slab criticality problem using an alternative phase function with the second kind of Chebyshev polynomials

Nuclear Science and Techniques, 2019
The critical size of a finite homogenous slab is investigated for one-speed neutrons using the alternative phase function (AG, Anli–Gungor) in place of the scattering function of the transport equation. First of all, the neutron angular flux expanded in terms of the Chebyshev polynomials of second kind (UN approximation) together with the AG phase ...

The critical slab problem for reflecting boundary conditions in one-speed neutron transport theory

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 1996
Abstract The critical slab problem based on the singular eigenfunction method solution is generalized using one-speed neutron transport theory. Changing vacuum boundary to reflective boundary, a slab is investigated to rederive the criticality conditions when both reflection coefficients are the same in both surfaces.

Application of the T method to critical slab problem for one-speed neutrons with forward and backward scattering

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2011
Abstract The critical slab problem which includes isotropic forward and backward scattering has been studied in one-speed neutron transport equation using first kind of Chebyshev polynomials. The critical half-thicknesses are computed for different degrees of c and forward and backward scattering with Mark and Marshak boundary conditions in the ...

Application of the U N method to the reflected critical slab problem for one-speed neutrons with forward and backward scattering

Kerntechnik, 2007
Abstract The UN method is used to solve the critical slab problem for reflecting boundary conditions in one-speed neutron transport theory. The isotropic scattering kernel with the combination of forward and backward scattering is chosen for the neutrons in a uniform finite slab.
