Analytical evaluation of atomic form factors: application to Rayleigh scattering

open access: yes, 2014
Atomic form factors are widely used for the characterization of targets and specimens, from crystallography to biology. By using recent mathematical results, here we derive an analytical expression for the atomic form factor within the independent ...

Aria of thought: philosophical exploration through the expression of vocal music

open access: yesTrans/Form/Ação
Philosophy significantly contributes to the inheritance of human thought and the humanistic spirit. Traditional explorations in philosophy, often rational and abstract, may struggle to engage deeply with human emotions and experiences.

Expression of the RNA-binding protein RBP10 promotes the bloodstream-form differentiation state in Trypanosoma brucei.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2017
In nearly all eukaryotes, cellular differentiation is governed by changes in transcription, and stabilized by chromatin and DNA modification. Gene expression control in the pathogen Trypanosoma brucei, in contrast, relies almost exclusively on post ...

A Closed-Form Expression for the Gravitational Radiation Rate from Cosmic Strings

open access: yes, 1994
We present a new formula for the rate at which cosmic strings lose energy into gravitational radiation, valid for all piecewise-linear cosmic string loops. At any time, such a loop is composed of $N$ straight segments, each of which has constant velocity.

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

MINDtouch: Embodied mobile media ephemeral transference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Copyright @ 2013 ISAST.This article reviews discoveries that emerged from the author's MINDtouch media research project, in which a mobile device was repurposed for visual and non-verbal communication through gestural and visual mobile expressivity.

Why and When Are Evidence‐Based Interventions Adopted in Paediatric Supportive Care? A Qualitative Exploration of the Determinants of Photobiomodulation Implementation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect of childhood cancer and stem cell transplant treatments. It affects the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) and places a strain on services. Photobiomodulation is recommended for oral mucositis prevention in international guidance but is poorly implemented in UK ...

Light scattering by particles of a polygonal-based in the WKB approximation

open access: yesMaterials Science for Energy Technologies, 2023
Using the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation, we obtain a general analytical expression of the form factor for a particle with polygonal bases in the case where the wave vector of the incident light is parallel to this base.

Multiplicity-free quantum 6j-symbols for U_q(sl_N)

open access: yes, 2013
We conjecture a closed form expression for the simplest class of multiplicity-free quantum 6j-symbols for U_q(sl_N). The expression is a natural generalization of the quantum 6j-symbols for U_q(sl_2) obtained by Kirillov and Reshetikhin.

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.
