The epistemic ceiling: Veteran practitioners' perspectives on primary qualification entry standards for teaching secondary mathematics in Scotland

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper presents an exploratory analysis of contemporary curricular and professional qualification policies in the Scottish education system, focusing on minimum qualification thresholds for mathematics teaching. The study examines how veteran secondary mathematics practitioners perceive the structural and pedagogical implications of using ...

The ecology of inclusive education reimagined: A framework for research, policy, and practice

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Evidence suggests the educational gap between those who experience success at school and those who do not is growing. Decades of rhetoric, policy and reform have failed to deliver an inclusive form of schooling that meets the learning needs of all students and much of the blame for this is placed at the feet of schools.

‘More than information’: A social listening and platform architecture analysis of online special educational needs and disabilities discourse

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) increasingly seek information and support through online discussions, yet little is known about how architectural features of digital platforms shape the interactions and support that parents encounter. The paper makes two contributions: First, it develops and applies a

Hide and seek: Pedagogic discourse and the hidden curriculum in the secondary music classroom

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract The selective recontextualisation of musical knowledge from societal practice into educational content—mediated by diverse political and pedagogical influences—is neither ideologically neutral nor epistemically determinate. Rather, the reframing of ‘horizontal’ musical intuition into ‘vertical’ musical conceptualisation within the secondary ...

Machine Learning Models of Phase Contrast Images Predict Efficiency of Human Pluripotent Stem Cell Differentiation to Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Human pluripotent stem cells were differentiated to cTnT+ cardiomyocytes and imaged throughout the process using phase contrast. We predicted differentiation efficiency (cTnT+ area) from phase contrast and compared model performance with a live‐cell cTnT‐GFP reporter.

A General Workflow for Tangential Flow Filtration Perfusion Scale‐Up

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tangential flow filtration (TFF) perfusion using hollow‐fiber modules offers substantial advantages over other mammalian cell retention technologies. Recently, increased awareness of Starling flow has helped to enhance filtration performance to similar, or even higher levels compared to alternative technologies.

GlycoMAC: A Multiscale Metabolic‐Glycosylation Framework for Predicting Glycosylation Across Conditions in Mammalian Cell Cultures

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Antibody productivity and glycosylation quality in CHO cell cultures emerge from a dynamically evolving metabolic environment, yet existing models often work in isolation or at a single scale. Here, we present a multiscale mechanistic framework linking molecular, cellular, and macroscopic scales to predict how inputs shape bioprocess ...

pyFDRT: An open‐source Python tool for Fourier‐transform analysis of the distribution of relaxation times in electrochemical impedance spectra

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, EarlyView.
pyFDRT is an open‐source tool that converts an impedance spectrum into a quantitative equivalent circuit. Its Fourier‐transform stage requires no discretization basis or regularization parameter, and the non‐negative refinement selects its own parameters, and an information criterion determines the relaxation process count.

Carrion ecology: concepts, interdisciplinary synthesis, and perspectives

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Carrion is a ubiquitous resource in both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, yet it has long been overlooked in ecological research. Over the past two decades, studies on carrion and the many organisms that exploit it have flourished, revealing not only wide‐ranging ecological functions but also significance far beyond ecology.
