Evaluating the effects of fluid interface components on tabletop collaboration
Tabletop displays provide exciting opportunities to support individual and collaborative activities such as planning, organizing, and storyboarding. It has been previously suggested that continuous flow of interface items can ease information access and ...

Supramolecular catalysis with ethers enabled by dual chalcogen bonding activation
The activation of ethers by weak interactions is a long-standing objective in supramolecular catalysis, but yet it remains an underdeveloped topic. The obstacles towards solving this problem are prominent since it is difficult for a weak interaction to ...

This paper proposes a model for specifying interfaces between concurrently executing modules of a computing system. The model does not prescribe a particular type of communication protocol and is aimed at describing interfaces between both software and hardware modules or a combination of the two.

IFITMs from Mycobacteria Confer Resistance to Influenza Virus When Expressed in Human Cells
Interferon induced transmembrane proteins (IFITMs) found in vertebrates restrict infections by specific viruses. IFITM3 is known to be essential for restriction of influenza virus infections in both mice and humans.

An interface to an interface to an interface
The paper relates some experiences from a recent production of orchestrating Conlon Nancarrow Piano Studies for performance on Pipe Organ. Reflections that surfaced during this work concerned the layered nature of interfaces, automation (and thus allusions to the different conceptions of artificial intelligence), and leaky abstractons.

ISML: an interface specification meta-language
In this paper we present an abstract metaphor model situated within a model-based user interface framework. The inclusion of metaphors in graphical user interfaces is a well established, but mostly craft-based strategy to design.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
