A new approach to the management of acute epistaxis

Clinical Otolaryngology, 1991
A new approach to the management of acute epistaxis is described using suction with the operating microscope to define the bleeding point prior to the application of hot wire cautery. This technique was shown to be completely successful in stopping haemorrhage in 82% of acute referrals in a prospective series of 33 patients.

A NEW APPROACH TO PEST MANAGEMENT PROBLEM

Journal of Biological Systems, 2005
The paper deals with the effect of pesticide on the pest affecting a paddy field and also on the fishes living in the soil water. An objective function is formed in terms of projected loss of individual fish, the projected profit of killing a pest and the cost of spraying insecticide for a finite time period.

We have finally arrived at the true centre of things. This is where the owner of the black leather chair subtly operates the levers of power, where decisions are made which directly impact the continued good health of the entire organisation. To make things absolutely clear, we are talking about the ‘Senior Management’ block shown in Figure 11.1.

Bronchiectasis: New Approaches to Diagnosis and Management

Clinics in Chest Medicine, 2011
Non-cystic fibrosis (CF) bronchiectasis is a common, potentially serious, condition. Further investigations should be performed in an attempt to identify the underlying cause because it may lead to a change in therapy and have significant prognostic implications.
