TIMING OF TERMINATION OF NOCTURNAL PROLACTIN SURGES IN PREGNANT RATS AS DETERMINED BY THE NUMBER OF FETUSES

Journal of Endocrinology, 1980
In female rats bearing an average litter of 10 ± 0·28 fetuses, pituitary prolactin is secreted in a pattern of two daily surges during the first 10 days of pregnancy only. When the number of fetuses was experimentally reduced, prolactin surges continued for a longer period and pregnancy was correspondingly lengthened.

Reduction of the number of fetuses for women with triplet and higher order multiple pregnancies

2003
When couples are faced with the dilemma of a higher order multiple pregnancy there are three options. Termination of the entire pregnancy has generally not been acceptable to women, especially for those with a past history of infertility. Attempting to continue with all the fetuses is associated with inherent problems of preterm birth, survival and ...

Copy number variants and fetal structural abnormalities in stillborn fetuses: a secondary analysis of the Stillbirth Collaborative Research Network study

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2022
Objective To examine the association of placental and fetal DNA copy number variants (CNVs) with fetal structural malformations (FSMs) in stillborn fetuses. Design A secondary analysis of stillbirth cases in the Stillbirth Collaborative Research Network (SCRN) study. Setting Multicenter, 59 hospitals in 5 geographic regions in the USA.

Effects of aminoglutethimide phosphate administration on the incidence of pregnancy and number of live fetuses in superovulated rats

Theriogenology, 1991
This study examined the effects of aminoglutethimide phosphate (AGP) administration on the incidence of pregnancy and number of live fetuses in superovulated rats. Immature (31- to 33-day-old) young (8- to 9-week-old) and (14- to 16-week-old) rats were treated with 20 or 40 IU of PMSG and the same dosses of hCG at 52 to 54 hour-intervals (GTH rats ...

Measurement of oestrone sulphate in sheep plasma as a possible indicator of pregnancy and the number of viable fetuses present

British Veterinary Journal, 1986
Abstract The measurement of certain hormones in body fluids has made a major contribution to improving reproductive efficiency in several species. The advent of radioimmunoassays has allowed the development of sensitive tests to detect hormones such as progesterone and oestrone sulphate in bovine milk.

Effects of the timing of selective reduction and finishing number of fetuses on the perinatal outcome in triplets: a single-center retrospective study

The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 2020
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the timing of selective reduction and finishing the number of fetuses on perinatal outcomes in triplets. The study assessed 417 cases of triplets. Perinatal outcomes were compared between selective reduction (SR) performed at 11-14+6 weeks of gestation and SR performed at 15-24+6 weeks of gestation for the same

PLACENTAL LACTOGEN IN THE GOAT IN RELATION TO STAGE OF GESTATION, NUMBER OF FETUSES, METABOLITES, PROGESTERONE AND TIME OF DAY

Journal of Endocrinology, 1980
Placental lactogen has been measured in goats throughout pregnancy by radioreceptor assay of prolactin-like activity. Lactogenic activity, which is not prolactin, increased from less than 5 nmol/l in week 8 to 27 nmol/l by week 16. There was no further change until term. Plateau concentrations (week 16 to term) were highest in animals carrying triplets,

The effects of dexamethasone on nucleic acid synthesis and cell numbers in rat fetuses.

Experimental and clinical endocrinology, 1983
Pregnant rats were treated with dexamethasone in drinking water (10 micrograms/ml) from the 15th to the 22nd day of pregnancy. Dexamethasone significantly depressed cell numbers in fetal rat adrenal glands, liver, lung, testes and pituitary from the 17th to the 22nd day of pregnancy.

[Real-time ultrasonographic pregnancy diagnosis (B-mode) in sheep. 3. Determination of the number of embryos and fetuses].

Tierarztliche Praxis, 1997
Transrectal ultrasound examination was performed once in 1159 German Mutton Merino ewes in a standing position using a 5.0 MHz linear array transducer (group 1), 505 German Mutton Merino ewes were restrained in dorsal recumbency while scanned transrectally using a 7.5 MHz probe (group 2).
