Financial regret at older ages and longevity awareness

open access: yesJournal of Risk and Insurance, Volume 92, Issue 3, Page 719-739, September 2025.
Abstract To investigate financial regret among older Americans, we conduct a controlled experiment in the Health and Retirement Study. We document that many older people regret not having bought longevity protection or long‐term care insurance, as well as having retired and claimed social security benefits too early.

In‐Depth Evaluation of Inversion of Coastal Tsunami Waveforms Utilizing Tsunami Source Constrained by Offshore Tsunami Waveforms From a Wide, Dense Observation Network: Application to the 2016 Mw 6.9 Off‐Fukushima Earthquake, Japan

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 12, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract The tsunami generated by the 2016 Mw 6.9 off‐Fukushima earthquake, Japan, was recorded by offshore pressure gauges on a wide, dense ocean‐bottom cable network, called S‐net, as well as by offshore GPS buoys, coastal wave gauges and coastal tide gauges.

Safewashing in the conspicuous commodification of the hazardous aesthetic

open access: yesGeo: Geography and Environment, Volume 12, Issue 2, July‐December 2025.
Short Abstract In this paper, we introduce the concept of safewashing as a new lens through which to research issues relating to widespread, continuing urban property development in unsafe, hazard prone locations. We suggest that in the process of property development and marketing, unsafe locations may be masked through ‘washing out’ (i.e ...

Joule‐Thomson Cooling During CO2 Injection Under Unsteady‐State Delayed Heat Exchange

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 61, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract Joule‐Thomson cooling during CO2 injection into low‐pressure fields can lead to injectivity impairment due to hydrate formation. This paper presents axial‐symmetric flow model, which can be used to predict propagation of temperature and CO2 fronts during CO2 injection into porous formations accounting for Joule‐Thomson cooling and unsteady ...

An Empirical Analysis of the Impact of Financialisation on the Rate of Profit for the US (1955–2019)

open access: yesBritish Journal of Industrial Relations, Volume 63, Issue 2, Page 354-367, June 2025.
ABSTRACT The purpose of this article is to examine the relationship between financialisation and functional income distribution. To this end, we empirically analyse the relationship between financialisation, the real wage level and the rate of profit in the US (1955–2019) using structural vector autoregressive modelling. According to our results, while

Reliable Fault Modeling of an Mw 7.1 Earthquake in Hyuganada Sea on 8 August 2024 by Offshore Tsunami Data From New Seafloor Network N‐net and Onshore GNSS Data

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 8, 28 April 2025.
Abstract We investigated tsunamis of an Mw 7.1 earthquake in the Hyuganada Sea in 2024, observed by a new dense and wide seafloor observation network, N‐net, installed in the western Nankai Trough. A joint inversion of the offshore tsunami and onshore GNSS data revealed a maximum slip of 2.4 m with a significant slip near the centroid from the ...

Exact Solutions and Upscaling for 1D Two‐Phase Flow in Heterogeneous Porous Media

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 60, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract Upscaling of 1D two‐phase flows in heterogeneous porous media is important in interpretation of laboratory coreflood data, streamline quasi 3D modeling, and numerical reservoir simulation. In 1D heterogeneous media with properties varying along the flow direction, phase permeabilities are coordinate‐dependent.

Propagation of Free Infragravity Waves Generated at Distant Beaches

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 129, Issue 10, October 2024.
Abstract Infragravity (IG) waves are important drivers of extreme run‐up, morphological changes, and seiches. While locally forced IG waves have been extensively investigated, recent studies have revealed the significance of free IG waves generated on distant beaches.
