14‐3‐3γ Protects Against Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction by Regulating Tau Thr205 Phosphorylation and Synaptic Integrity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrative multi‐cohort analyses identify 14‐3‐3γ as a biomarker and regulator of cognitive vulnerability. Experimental studies show that 14‐3‐3γ loss is associated with Tau Thr205 phosphorylation, synaptic dysfunction, and cognitive impairment, while genetic overexpression or pharmacological stabilization of 14‐3‐3γ confers protective effects in ...

TECTB Variants Reveal Tectorial Membrane Vulnerability in Dominant Non‐Syndromic Hearing Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TECTB is a non‐collagenous protein of the tectorial membrane – an extracellular matrix of the cochlea. This study identifies dominant missense variants in TECTB linked to human hereditary deafness in two unrelated families. Genetically engineered mice homozygous for one of the variants are profoundly deaf, whereas heterozygous mice have normal hearing ...

Brain Network Dynamics of Local and Global Predictive Processing in Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Separation of concurrent whole‐brain networks in source‐reconstructed magnetoencephalography (MEG) data suggests that healthy aging reorganizes, rather than uniformly attenuates, neural responses elicited from hierarchical auditory violations. Enhanced early sensory deviance processing alongside reduced higher‐order cognitive responses suggests a large‐

Retrospective Grid Cells in the Medial Entorhinal Cortex Encode Past Paths During Spatial Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Retrospective grid cells are identified in the medial entorhinal cortex, with spatial firing patterns that become most grid‐like when activity is projected onto recently traversed locations. Their coding loses spatial precision in darkness and is disrupted during assisted movement, indicating that entorhinal representations incorporate recent path ...

A Molecularly Defined Midbrain Circuit Mechanism for Sound‐Driven Defensive Behavior and Anxiety

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram showing the Cbln2+ ICx–dPAG circuit for sound‐driven defensive and anxiety‐like behaviors. ABSTRACT The innate defense behaviors in response to threatening sounds play a fundamental role in survival. However, the neural circuits that detect threat‐relevant auditory cues and transform them into defensive behaviors remain poorly defined.

Galactokinase 1 Positively Regulates Mitochondrial Respiration by Phosphorylating TIMM13 as a Protein Kinase

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
GALK1 acts as a protein kinase beyond the phosphorylation of galactose. GALK1 phosphorylates TIMM13 at Y73 in the cytoplasm. This phosphorylation prevents premature oxidative folding of TIMM13 and ensures its entrance into the intermembrane space of mitochondrion, positively regulating mitochondrial respiration.

Experimental Demonstration of Temporally Aware Fault‐Tolerant Sensor Fusion Using Memristive Associative Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
In dynamic driving scenarios, the proposed approach ensures only temporally aligned sensor inputs to make driving decisions, preventing false activations. By enabling selective hardware‐level learning, it achieves fast, reliable responses under noisy conditions.
