Limiting temperatures of medium mass nuclei

Abstract A limiting temperature of ∼6 MeV is found for αa emission from medium mass nuclei having excitation energies of 2 to 4.5 MeV/nucleon. This result is consistent with model predictions for a “cracking” phase transition.
