The Tiebout Model: Bring Back the Entrepreneurs
Several recent papers in the literature have reformulltlated the nature of equilibrium in IFiebout mo(lels by alSSlIuim`ing an exogenous number of communities, inflexible commullity l)OU(alaries, anti in pirticular inactive lantlowners and developers. Ihis paper argues that these assumptions are unwarranted and reSul1t iIn in(eterminate solutions and ...

The Impact of Jurisdictional Boundaries: An Individual-Level Test of the Tiebout Model
Despite the considerable research attention accorded the Tiebout model, its empirical foundations are not especially well developed. That is, existing empirical investigations of the Tiebout model only indirectly address many of its central assumptions, given their nearly exclusive focus on aggregate-level analyses when the model evaluates ...

Reassessment of the Tiebout model
Abstract The Tiebout model has been the reference point for the classical approach to fiscal federalism. Its emphasis on mobility, benefit taxation, and the advantages of fiscal competition have informed fiscal federalism since the seminal contributions of Musgrave and Oates.

Dynamic Analysis of the Tiebout Model with Numerical Simulations
In this paper a dynamic formulation of C. M. Tiebout's theory is attempted, with the properties of this dynamic model examined analytically as well as numerically. Three conclusions are reached. (1) An association between income endowment and intensity of preference for public goods among heterogeneous groups of individuals produces a subtle difference

On the Applicability of the Tiebout Model to Japanese Cities
The purpose of this paper is to apply the so‐called Tiebout hypothesis empirically to Japanese cities. 117 cities in the Tokyo metropolitan area and 72 cities in the Osaka metropolitan area are respectively classified into eight clusters using public expenditure densities as attribute variables.

Choice and Efficiency in Education: New Perspective on the Tiebout Model
The aspiration to achieve universal access to quality education for all is often accompanied by the challenge of efficiency. Commonly, public good provision (e.g., education) is perceived as less efficient than private markets (Samuelson PA, Rev Econ Stat 36:387–389, 1954).

Quantities, qualities and multiple public services in the Tiebout model
Abstract This paper introduces a new, more realistic characterization of local public services. This characterization fits education, parks, and streets, none of which are a pure Samuelsonian good. It is shown that Tiebout's hypothesis holds for this new type of services, provided correct user charges are adopted.

The Decision to Regionalize in the Provision of Education: An Application of the Tiebout Model
Abstract In the standard Tiebout equilibrium, consumers sort themselves into an array of communities which cater to the specific preferences of their residents for public services. Given congestibility of these services, the efficient size of a community minimizes the average cost of provision.

The Tiebout model implies, under certain assumptions, that communities will become increasingly homogeneous by income and preferences, and perhaps by race, land use, and other community characteristics. This article tests the hypothesis of increasing homogeneity with equations describing changes among Boston area communities between 1960 and 1970. The

On the basis of Tiebout's theory about optimal provision of public goods and achieve conditions, We have tested Tiebout's hypothesis on the basis of Chongqing district by operating an empirical model, and put some corresponding policies. This paper finds that in Chongqing China, although it has a significantly different conclusion from USA owing to the
