Chemoprophylaxis of Theileria annulata and Theileria parva infections of calves with buparvaquone

Veterinary Parasitology, 1998
A clinical trial testing the prophylactic effect of a 5 mg kg-1 dose of buparvaquone on either Theileria annulata or Theileria parva experimental infections of calves demonstrated its efficacy for periods of at least seven days. The drug given 1 h or seven days before 50% lethal T.

Immune Response of Theileria sp.‐infected Sheep to Recombinant Theileria Proteins

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2008
Sheep and goats in northwest China suffer from theileriosis from infection with Theileria sp. (China), resulting in large economic losses. To investigate the immune response to infection with Theileria sp. (China), parameters of cellular and humoral immunity of experimentally infected sheep against two recombinantly expressed Theileria proteins were ...

Report of Theileria luwenshuni and Theileria sp. RSR from cervids in Gansu, China

Parasitology Research, 2015
Theileria parasites are important tick-borne pathogens of animals and cause huge economic losses worldwide. Here, we undertook to assess the prevalence of Theileria spp. in cervids in Gansu, China, based on PCR analysis and sequencing of the 18S rRNA genes. Molecular survey showed that Theileria luwenshuni and Theileria sp. RSR were frequently found in

Theileria mutans in Nigeria

Research in Veterinary Science, 1979
Two strains of bovine Theileria from northern Nigeria were shown to be identical to Theileria mutans in the indirect immunofluorescent antibody test. One of the strains was transmitted by the tick Amblyomma variegatum; large macroschizonts, typical for T mutans, could be demonstrated in infected cattle.

Cell invasion by Theileria sporozoites

Trends in Parasitology, 2003
Abstract Theileria are intracellular protozoan parasites of veterinary importance, and their impact on livestock production in many developing countries has a significant negative effect on the quality of human life. Host cell invasion is a crucial aspect of Theileria biology.

The serological relationship between Theileria parva (Muguga) and Theileria lawrence from Rhodesia

Veterinary Record, 1977
Thirty-eight sera from cattle from a herd in Rhodesia naturally infected with Theileria lawrencei were titrated with the indirect immunofluorescent test against schizont antigens of T parva (Muguga) and T lawrencei from Rhodesia. T lawrencei was found to be indistinguishable from T parva with the test.
