A Cladistic Analysis of the Genus Diploschistes (Ascomycotina, Thelotremataceae)
Bryologist, 1998The phylogeny of the genus Diploschistes is investigated using parsimony analysis with morphological, chemical, and ecological characters. The scruposus group, including D. ocellatus, is supported as monophyletic, whereas the actinostomus group is shown to be paraphyletic.

Molecular data show that Topeliopsis (Ascomycota, Thelotremataceae) is polyphyletic
Abstract:A phylogenetic study using DNA sequences of the nuclear ribosomal large subunit from 38 species is used to infer the phylogeny of species currently placed in Topeliopsis. The genus is shown to be polyphyletic; monophyly of previous and current circumscriptions of the genus are rejected using two alternative hypothesis tests.

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 1989
Three species which contain both gyrophoric and lecanoric acids and possess perithecioid ascomata are recognized in the genusDiploschistes. D. badius andD. gyrophoricus are described as new, whileD. subcupreus is reduced to synonymy withD. sticticus. Two species occur in the southern hemisphere, whileD. badius is found in N. America.
