Fractals in Theoretical Physics

1990
Random walks and Sierpinski gaskets are used to introduce fractal dimensions, and diffusion limited aggregates finish this “dessert”, which is closely related to the critical exponents at the end of the previous chapter .

On the Methods of Theoretical Physics

Proceedings of the Physical Society of London, 1892
When the editors of the catalogue of models (published in 1892 for the Association of German Mathematicians) asked me to write on this topic, I soon saw that little remains to be said that is new; so much solid comment on it has appeared just recently.

Undecidability and Intractability in Theoretical Physics

Physical Review Letters, 1985
Physical Processes are reviewed as computations, and the difficulty of answering questions about them is characterized in terms of the difficulty of performing the corresponding computations. Cellular automata are used to provide explicit examples of various formally undecidable and computationally intractable problems.
