Systems theories and architectures for ECBS
Proceedings IEEE Symposium and Workshop on Engineering of Computer-Based Systems, 2002Within this paper it is argued that every systematic approach to defining an engineering discipline for computer-based systems in a near axiomatic way must start with laying down adequate theories for all sorts of systems under consideration within the envisioned systematic engineering process.

A THEORY OF DEVELOPMENTAL MENTAL ARCHITECTURE AND THE DAV ARCHITECTURE DESIGN
International Journal of Humanoid Robotics, 2005The software architecture of a developmental robot is a challenging new research subject. This paper presents a theory of developmental mental architecture. Five architecture types, from the simplest Type-1 (observation-driven Markov decision process) to Type-5 (DOSASE MDP), are introduced.

Towards a theory of architectural styles
Proceedings of the 22nd ACM SIGSOFT International Symposium on Foundations of Software Engineering, 2014Architectural styles and patterns play an important role in software architectures. However, they are usually only stated informally, which may cause problems such as ambiguity and wrong conclusions. A rigorous theory of architectural styles --- consisting of (i) mathematical models for each style; (ii) axioms to identify different variants of a style;

A UNIFIED ARCHITECTURAL THEORY FOR ISLAMIC ARCHITECTURE
International Journal of Architectural Research: ArchNet-IJAR, 2016This research aims to identify criteria for sustainable design solutions to meet the needs of Muslims today. Under the theoretical framework of Nikos Salingaros’ Unified Architectural Theory, design needs and strategies derived from Islamic knowledge and values are identified and used to inform principles for building typologies, location, and movement

A component theory for telecommunication architectures
1994This paper gives a generic constructive component concept for future telecommunication architectures through the unification of the interfaces of the components. It gives the general semantics of the components through the categorisation of the interfaces of the components.

Constructing Architectural Theory
Philosophy, 2003Architectural theory arises from building, when the mind considers its symbolic relations to its own constructions. The intent of this essay is to discuss the intellectual causes that precede building and precede theory. It considers certain fundamental dualities in our thinking about architecture—such as image and word; type and model; imitation ...
