The constraints of theory: What is the impact of the Theory of Constraints on Operations Strategy?
Abstract Although previous studies have advanced understanding on about the effects of the Theory of Constraints (TOC) in different areas in Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM), a relevant knowledge gap still remains concerning how the TOC elements impact the main competitive dimensions of operations strategy, and how they can be applied to

Revision to Theory of Constraints [PDF]
It's intended to give an approximation to the Theory of Constraints (TOC), to achieve that goal we explain the conceptual bases, the thinking process, the flow management and later on we will focus on its application into production, also known as DBR (Drum-Buffer-Rope).

A theory of dual channel constraints [PDF]
The surprising predictability of source code has triggered a boom in tools using language models for code. Code is much more predictable than natural language, but the reasons are not well understood. We propose a dual channel view of code; code combines a formal channel for specifying execution and a natural language channel in the form of identifiers

FLAVOR CONSTRAINTS ON THEORY SPACE [PDF]
Composite Higgs models based on the chiral symmetries of ``theory space'' can produce Higgs bosons with masses of order 100 GeV from underlying strong dynamics at scales up to 10 TeV without fine tuning. This talk argues that flavor-violating interactions generically arising from underlying flavor dynamics constrain the Higgs compositeness scale to be ...

Equational theories and database constraints [PDF]
We present a novel way to formulate database dependencies as sentences of first-order logic, using equational statements instead of Horn clauses. Dependency implication is directly reduced to equational implication. Our approach is powerful enough to express functional and inclusion dependencies, which are the most common database constraints.

Constraint summation in phonological theory
Classical phonological constraints apply to individual candidates. Yet, some authors have proposed constraints that instead apply to sets of candidates, such as distinctiveness constraints (Flemming 2002) and Optimal Paradigm faithfulness constraints (McCarthy 2005).

Computational Constraints in Cognitive Theories of Forgetting [PDF]
This article highlights some of the benefits of computational modeling for theorizing in cognition. We demonstrate how computational models have been used recently to argue that (1) forgetting in short-term memory is based on interference not decay, (2) forgetting in list-learning paradigms is more parsimoniously explained by a temporal distinctiveness

Constraints on theories of cognitive aging [PDF]
There is currently little consensus regarding what must be explained by theories of cognitive aging. In the present article, four empirical generalizations that seem to imply certain constraints in theorizing are identified. These generalizations, and their possible implications or constraints, are that (1) age-related differences are found in a wide ...
