Replacement Therapy for Induced Hypothyroidism in Dogs

SUMMARY Three thyroid hormone preparations were used for the treatment of induced hypothyroidism in 20 dogs. Dosages required were higher than expected. Those found to be satisfactory were 12.8 μg./kg. of body weight for triiodothyronine (T-3) alone, 32 μg./kg. for thyroxine (T-4) alone, and 18 μg./kg. and 4.5 μg./kg. for T-3 and T-4 together.
