Measuring Thermal Conductivity of Fluids Containing Oxide Nanoparticles

, 1999
Oxide nanofluids were produced and their thermal conductivities were measured by a transient hot-wire method. The experimental results show that these nanofluids, containing a small amount of nanoparticles, have substantially higher thermal ...

Thermal properties of thermal insulation chambers

Textile Research Journal, 2020
The paper presents the investigation of thermal properties of thermal insulation chambers as an actuator in intelligent clothing, having the property of automatically adjusting the thermal protection level. The chambers are designed to vary their thickness based on the pressure of the inflated air in them.

Thermal runaway by thermal analysis

Thermochimica Acta, 1990
Abstract The effect of heating rate on thermal runaway has been investigated by thermal analysis. For the materials studied in the present work there was an increase in the ignition temperature as the heating rate was increased. At high heating rates the effect was largely determined by the thermal relaxation time.

Thermal Expansion of Thermally Sprayed Coatings [PDF]

open access: possibleInternational Thermal Spray Conference, 1998
Abstract The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of a NiCoCrAlY coating was investigated in this work. The CTE was inferred from the measured length variations of coated prismatic symmetric specimens (i.e. having the coating on two opposite surfaces) at various temperature increments.

Thermal Losses/Thermal Inertia

1986
Quantifying the loss stair-step has been one of the important goals of the evaluation team at the SSPS project. This evaluation area addresses each of the loss elements as they were evaluated, and also discusses one of the interesting realizations that resulted from this evaluation — thermal inertia, a major hinderance to successful solar thermal ...

Thermal Fatigue and Thermal Shock

1964
Problems in the strength of structural materials in a variable temperature field are attracting more and more attention from engineers, as well as from investigators working in the most diverse branches of technology. A number of reviews [1–3] have appeared recently and are used in the present paper.

Thermal energy and the thermal environment

1987
Towards the middle of the 19th century, the English botanist Brown noticed that minute particles in the cellular fluids of plant cells were in perpetual motion. Repeated experiments subsequently demonstrated that this so-called Brownian motion of microscopic particles was not due to extraneous factors, such as the vibrations of the building, or to ...
