Micro-thermal analysis: scanning thermal microscopy and localised thermal analysis

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1999
Micro-thermal analysis combines the imaging capabilities of atomic force microscopy with the ability to characterise, with high spatial resolution, the thermal behaviour of materials. The conventional AFM tip is replaced by a miniature heater/thermometer which enables a surface to be visualised according to its response to the input of heat (in ...

Thermal analysis in SPICE

1989 IEEE International Conference on Computer-Aided Design. Digest of Technical Papers, 2003
A discussion is presented of the implementation of thermal analysis in SPICE that analyzes the circuit by computing stability temperatures for each device at operating point in DC analysis. Conditions for thermal instability or thermal runway are discussed along with a critique of the current temperature models for some of the devices in SPICE. Thermal

Thermal analysis of amalgams

Dental Materials, 1988
Abstract This study provides further information about the thermal behavior of dental amalgams. A differential thermal analyzer with a thermogravimetric analyzer, and a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) were employed to examine the thermal stability and phase changes of low and high-copper amalgams.

A thermal analysis of grinding

Wear, 1994
Abstract This is the second of two papers in which we model the grinding process when a single phase coolant is applied. The first paper concentrated on the inlet zone: it calculated the depth of penetration by the coolant into the pores of the grinding wheel, on the assumption that it is the penetration-depth that determines the rate

Analysis of thermal images

Biomedical Engineering, 1980
Broad introduction of thermovision systems in medical practice, and their multifunctional intension make it necessary to find new, more effective ways to processing and analysis of thermal patterns. Acception of these methods in medicine should provide higher diagnostic accuracy and informativeness of thermovision.

Thermal runaway by thermal analysis

Thermochimica Acta, 1990
Abstract The effect of heating rate on thermal runaway has been investigated by thermal analysis. For the materials studied in the present work there was an increase in the ignition temperature as the heating rate was increased. At high heating rates the effect was largely determined by the thermal relaxation time.
