Thermally excited quasiparticles in metals, dispersion forces, and the thermal anomaly [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 2020
We provide a brief review of the contribution of thermally excited carriers to dispersion forces. In a metal, these carriers generate charge and current fluctuations whose spectral frequencies are comparable to [Formula: see text]. They are very likely responsible for the “plasma vs. Drude” anomaly.

Application of 3D Error Diagram in Thermal Infrared Earthquake Prediction: Qinghai–Tibet Plateau

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Earthquakes are the most dangerous natural disasters, and scholars try to predict them to protect lives and property. Recently, a long-term statistical analysis based on a “heating core” filter was applied to explore thermal anomalies related to ...

The Role of Temperature in the Safety Case for High-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal: A Comparison of Design Concepts

open access: yesGeosciences, 2017
The disposal of heat-generating radioactive waste in deep underground facilities requires a sparing use of spatial resources on the one side and favorable temperature conditions over the project lifetime on the other side. Under heat-sensitive conditions,

Present Heat Flow and Paleo‐Geothermal Anomalies in the Southern Golan Heights, Israel

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2021
While present heat flow (HF) throughout Israel and the Dead Sea Transform (DST) area is considered low, a thermal anomaly exists near the Yarmuk valley at the southern tip of the Golan Heights.

Characterization of thermal infrared medium- and short-term anomaly information from block to fault in mainland China

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The relationship between satellite thermal infrared anomalies and earthquakes or fault activity has been studied for more than 30 years. In this study, five strong earthquakes (the MS6.1 earthquake in Biru, Tibet; the MS7.4 earthquake in Madoi, Qinghai ...

基于夜间多时相遥感数据的热异常与地震的相关性

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2021

Corals and Their Microbiomes Are Differentially Affected by Exposure to Elevated Nutrients and a Natural Thermal Anomaly

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2018
Nutrient pollution can increase the prevalence and severity of coral disease and bleaching in ambient temperature conditions or during experimental thermal challenge.

The effect of grain boundaries on the domain wall dynamics in Pr$_{1-x}$Ag$_x$MnO$_3$ manganites

open access: yes, 2010
We performed detailed ac susceptibility measurements on Pr$_{1-x}$Ag$_x$MnO$_3$ ($x$=0.15, 0.20) manganites and observed unusual and interesting features, which are associated with the domain walls and the effects of grain-boundaries on their movements ...

TOWARDS DETECTION OF THERMAL ANOMALIES IN LARGE URBAN AREAS USING SIMULATION [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2020
Anomaly detection in imagery has widely been studied and enhanced towards the requirements of today’s available sensor data, whereas many of them require a background estimation in order to identify an anomaly or target.
