Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Mercury anomalies across the Palaeocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past, 2018
Abstract. Large-scale magmatic events like the emplacement of the North Atlantic Igneous Province (NAIP) are often coincident with periods of extreme climate change such as the Palaeocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM). One proxy for volcanism in the geological record that is receiving increased attention is the use of mercury (Hg) anomalies.

A Compact Spin‐Coated Graphene UWB Antenna for Breast Tumor Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A compact, spin‐coated graphene ultra‐wideband patch antenna designed for breast tumor detection, capable of distinguishing between malignant and benign tumors. This innovative antenna can serve as an effective initial screening tool, particularly in resource‐limited settings such as rural areas, where access to advanced medical equipment like MRI and ...

Internal Structures of Highlands in Western Lunar Farside Revealed by CE-2 CELMS Data

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2020
The internal structures are the key to understand the surface evolution of the Moon. However, the study of such kind is absent. In this study, the Chang'e-2 microwave radiometer data are employed to explore the internal structures in the highlands of the

On Thermal Nieh-Yan Anomaly in Topological Weyl Materials [PDF]

open access: yesJETP Letters, 2019
We discuss the possibility of a gravitional Nieh-Yan anomaly of the type $\partial_μj^μ_5 =γT^2{\cal T}^a\wedge {\cal T}_a$ in topological Weyl materials, where $T$ is temperature and ${\cal T}^a$ is the effective or emergent torsion. As distinct from the non-universal parameter $Λ$ in the conventional (zero temperature) Nieh-Yan anomaly -- with ...

Prediction of Surface Topography Parameters in Direct Laser Interference Patterning of Stainless Steel Using Infrared Monitoring and Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents an infrared monitoring approach for direct laser interference patterning (DLIP) combined with a convolutional neural network (CNN). Thermal emission data captured during structuring are used to predict surface topography parameters.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.
