Thermal analysis of a balanced calorimeter for testing electrical machines
2011 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2011This study investigates the operation of a balanced calorimeter using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and experimental methods. The analysis focuses on a 30 kW calorimeter for testing electrical machines. The considerations of thermal performance in terms of heat leakage and measures to improve the design are highlighted.

Shortening Thermal Balance Tests by Heater Power Regulation
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 2011differfromthepredictedones.Examplesdemonstratethatthetesttimescanbereduceddrastically.Powerswitching was performed when the predicted steady-state temperature was reached and according to the new procedure. The total test times were reduced by a factor between 31 and 50.

Test Research on Natural Gas Engine's Thermal Balance
Advanced Materials Research, 2014This paper introduces the present research on engine thermal balance. It aims YC6MK natural gas engine as research project to carry out thermal balance test study. The test indicates that recycling engine residual heat and letting engine work under specified working condition are two ways of improving engine entire efficiency.

Thermal balance testing for advanced, lightweight solar array designs
2009 34th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC), 2009The traditional modular building block for space solar arrays consists of solar cells mounted to an aluminum honeycomb panel with carbon composite facesheets. This design not only provides the structural rigidity for the array, but is critical for heat dissipation during operation in the space.

Polar Platform Service Module Thermal Balance Testing and Correlation
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1997<div class="htmlview paragraph">The first use of the Polar Platform (PPF) is for the Envisat/PPF mission. The Envisat/PPF spacecraft has a launch mass of 8.5 tons and external dimensions of 10.0 metres x 2.8 metres x 2.1 metres. Due to it's large size it was necessary to perform the thermal balance and thermal vacuum testing in two modules.

A Comparison of Satellite Flight Temperatures with Thermal Balance Test Data
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2003<div class="htmlview paragraph">Flight temperatures were compared to thermal balance test correlation data for two spacecraft. Results show that locations that were correlated with ground test data did not necessarily have similar correlation with flight data.
