Porous materials for thermal management under extreme conditions [PDF]
A brief analysis is presented of how heat transfer takes place in porous materials of various types. The emphasis is on materials able to withstand extremes of temperature, gas pressure, irradiation, etc., i.e.

Properties and Performance of High-Purity Thermal Barrier Coatings
It was found that the content of impurity oxides in 7YSZ, such as SiO2 and Al2O3, has a significant effect on coating sintering resistance and phase stability of 7YSZ thermal barrier coatings (TBCs).

Outstanding 1200 °C Oxidation Resistance in a Novel Multi-Principal Element Alloy via Lattice Distortion-Induced Diffusion Suppression. [PDF]
The unique lamellar structure of the eutectic alloy promotes selective oxidation of Al initially, while lattice distortion‐induced diffusion suppression slows oxide growth during steady state. Combining these strategies, a Multi‐Principal Element Alloy with excellent oxidation resistance at 1200℃ was designed.

Investigation of delamination mechanisms during a laser drilling on a cobalt-base superalloy [PDF]
Temperatures in the high pressure chamber of aircraft engines are continuously increasing to improve the engine efficiency. As a result, constitutive materials such as cobalt and nickel-base superalloys need to be thermally protected.

Comparison of oxidation behavior of YSZ and Gd 2 Zr 2 O 7 thermal barrier coatings (TBCs)
Abstract Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) is widely used as a traditional ceramic top coat material in gas turbine engine components. Nowadays, rare earth zirconates, as alternative materials to YSZ, are enhanced for use as top coat layer of TBC owing to their better thermal isolation properties.
