Dynamic calculation of thermal bridges

Energy and Buildings, 1997
Abstract Thermal bridges play a relatively large role in heat loss with increasing thermal insulation level of building envelope. In this paper, multi-dimensional dynamic models are set up to predict the thermal performances of thermal bridges using a frequency response method.

Thermal Process Calculations

1993
Inactivation of microorganisms by heat is a fundamental operation in food preservation. The concepts presented in this chapter are applicable not only in canning but in any process where heat is used to inactivate microorganisms and induce chemical changes which affect quality.

Resonance absorption calculations in thermal reactors

Progress in Nuclear Energy, 1980
Publisher Summary The calculation of resonance absorption rates in nuclear reactor cores has long been recognized as one of the most complicated parts of reactor analysis on account of the large number of nuclides with pronounced resonances that are present in the fuel and the drastic cross-section changes that occur in each resonance, sometimes over

Calculation of thermal noise in j.f.e.t.s

IEE Journal on SolidState and Electron Devices, 1979
At frequencies above the range at which low-frequency-generation noise is dominant, thermal noise in the channel is the main noise source of a junction field-effect transistor. Starting from the well known current and continuity equations, the drain- and gate-noise spectra and their correlation coefficient are calculated by means of a series expansion,

A calculation of the thermal expansion of germanium

Philosophical Magazine, 1964
Abstract The Gruneisen parameters, γ3 j , for a number of the acoustic modes of vibration of Ge have been calculated. The method of calculation is an approximate one which uses the volume dependence of the elastic constants, plus an adjustable parameter which tends to simulate the results of a shell model calculation.

The calculation of thermal stresses in cylinders

International Journal of Engineering Science, 1981
Abstract The thermal stresses in a long cylinder are calculated on the assumption that the metal behaves below a critical temperature T c as a perfectly elastic isotropic medium, while above T c it presents a negligible resistance to shear. Two cases are considered.

The Calculation of Thermal Conductivity for Metals

43rd AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2005
The calculation of transport properties of solids is of vital importance in the engineering practice. This paper is focused on the development of a mathematical model for the calculation of the thermal conductivity for simple solids with the help of statistical mechanics.
