Thermal-blooming time constant

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1982
Thermal blooming is analyzed by using a wave-propagation code to determine the speed of response of the blooming effect to changes in the transmitted laser beam. Results are developed to indicate where along the propagation path the dominant part of the thermal-blooming effects arise.

Stator thermal time constant

49th IEEE/IAS Industrial & Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference, 2013
The thermal model providing motor overload protection is derived from the first order differential equation for heat rise due to current in a conductor. Only the stator thermal time constant and the service factor are the required settings. The thermal model utilizes the full thermal capacity of the motor and allows current swings and cyclic overloads ...

Time constants in thermal laser medicine

Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 1989
AbstractTemperature rise of laser‐irradiated tissue due to direct absorption of laser light is related to laser parameters (power, spot size, irradiation time, and repetition rate) and tissue parameters (absorption and scattering coefficients, density, heat capacity, and thermal conductivity).

Thermal constants measurement techniques applied to thermal analysis

Thermochimica Acta, 1992
Abstract Recent development and applications of many new materials have resulted in them being made available only in small amounts or in special configurations such as thin films. In order to characterize their thermal transport and related properties in these forms, it has been necessary to develop new and improved quantitative measurement ...

Semiconductor-laser thermal time constant

Journal of Applied Physics, 1986
Thermal time constants of semiconductor lasers (‘‘test lasers’’) are measured by transient heating of test laser chips by use of another laser (‘‘pump laser’’). Pump laser emission impinging on the test laser p contact generates local heating. Thus, current-independent thermal responses are studied.

Are thermal constants constant? A test using two species of ladybird

Journal of Thermal Biology, 2014
There is a controversy about whether the thermal constants, lower developmental threshold, rate of development and corresponding degree days required for development, change when a species is reared under different developmental conditions. We present a more precise way of measuring these constants using the linear relationship between the rate of ...

Time Constants of the Vestibular Thermal Reaction

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1989
For the thermal test, adaptation time constants of about 100 s are described in the literature. By automatically alternating hot-cold irrigation, as designed by us, precision of stimulus application of different temperatures was considerably improved. Furthermore, temperature was registered with a thermocouple device.
