Time constants in thermal laser medicine: II. Distributions of time constants and thermal relaxation of tissue

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1996
The thermal response of a semi-infinite medium in air, irradiated by laser light in a cylindrical geometry, cannot accurately be approximately by single radial and axial time constants for heat conduction. This report presents an analytical analysis of hear conduction where the thermal response is expressed in terms of distributions over radial and ...

Thermal conductance and its relation to thermal time constants

Journal of Thermal Biology, 1981
Abstract A large body of thermoregulation studies exists in which the proper relationship between the physiological variable, thermal conductance, and heating or cooling time is not recognized. This is owing, in part, to conflicting definitions of conductance which either fail to relate to mean heat flow through the body surface or which fail to ...

Correlation Functions and Thermal Rate Constants

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2001
Thermal rate constants k(T) and cumulative reaction probabilities N(E) can be computed as a sum of correlation functions C-nm =

Thermal aspects of constant rate transformation

Journal of Thermal Analysis, 1988
A mathematical model for the conjugate formulation of the working conditions of the Q-derivatograph is created. There are no simplifying assumptions about the heat transfer processes for reacting active media and for their thermal interaction with the inert surroundings in this model. The energetic significance of the key components of the transfer and

Thermal expansion and elastic constants

International Journal of Thermophysics, 1991
We give a simple, useful relationship between thermal expansion, ΔV/V, and elastic constants. The relationship permits estimation of thermal expansion from only elastic constants (second order and third order) and atomic volume. Elastic-constant temperature dependence is not required.

Thermal behavior of the constant volume body plethysmograph

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1995
The thermal behavior of the constant volume body plethysmograph under the thermal effect of the patient and the thermostatic bag is modeled by two relations: the first is between the temperature in the box and the heat flux generated by the patient and the bag, and the second is between the pressure in the box and the same flux.

Thermal desorption with small friction constant

Physics Letters A, 1978
Abstract The technique previously introduced by the author for the large friction constant regime is utilized to calculate the exact escape rate for thermal desorption with small friction constant using the equation derived by Kramers for slow diffusion in energy.

Thermal time constants in SOI-MOSFETs

1991 IEEE International SOI Conference Proceedings, 1991
The authors present detailed theoretical considerations and a first-order analytical model for the dynamical behavior of self heating in SOIMOS (silicon-on-insulator metal oxide semiconductor). They show the results of the simulated spreading of heat when switching a SOIMOS in the on-state.

Supercapacitor ageing at constant temperature and constant voltage and thermal shock

Microelectronics Reliability, 2010
This paper presents supercapacitor ageing according to the voltage, the temperature and thermal shock tests. To investigate this effect, a test bench of accelerated supercapacitor calendar ageing was carried out. Experimental tests are realized at constant temperature when the supercapacitors are polarized at the maximum voltage.

Properties characterization and thermal analysis by new thermal constants techniques

Thermochimica Acta, 1992
Abstract Recent new or improved thermal analysis and thermal constants measurement techniques have been developed to evaluate, rapidly and accurately, thermal and related properties of materials available only in small quantities, including thin films, wafers and sheets.
