Thermal impedance control for thermal rendering technique
IECON 2015 - 41st Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2015Rendering technique of tactile sensation is necessary to communicate and share feelings between remote locations. This research focuses on thermal sensation, and not only precise rendering of tactile information but also environmental identification is conducted. Thermal sensation is changed depending on thermal impedance such as thermal resistance and

A Thermally Controlled Microinjector
Stain Technology, 1979An economical device for 0.1-2 microliter microinjections in animals is described. The expansions of electrically heated mercury is used to provide precise and repeatable injections. The rate of injection can be controlled either manually or by a motor drive.

Modeling and Control of Thermal Printing
IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2010In this paper, we present the development of an optimal controller for thermal printheads. A first-order linear system and a nonlinear output mapping with stochastic noise is proposed as a model of the printing dynamics. The model parameters are identified and an optimal control problem is formulated to determine the printhead input.

Thermal control in graphene nanoribbons: thermal valve, thermal switch and thermal amplifier
Nanoscale, 2012We study the thermal transport in graphene nanoribbons by using nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations. It is reported that the three-terminal graphene nanoribbons can perform some functions of thermal devices such as thermal valve, thermal switch and thermal amplifier. Electronic devices have transformed almost all aspects of our lives.

Thermal Propagation Control Using a Thermal Diffusion Equation
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2018Controlling heat flow is necessary in many fields, such as the communications, health care, and manufacturing industries. In the communication field, the techniques for the reproduction of thermal sensations have been researched for many years. In order to extend the area of controlling the heat, the thermal diffusion in time and space needs to be ...

Optimal control architecture selection for thermal control of buildings
Proceedings of the 2011 American Control Conference, 2011The problem of partitioning a building into clusters is considered in this paper, with reference to its decentralized thermal control. Optimal control schemes for these systems are often centralized and address both the thermal comfort and energy efficiency requirements.

Thermal management controller for heat source temperature control and thermal management
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University (Science), 2009In many heat recovery processes, temperature control of heat source is often required to ensure safety and high efficiency of the heat source equipment. In addition, the management of recovered heat is important for the proper use of waste heat. To this aim, the concept of thermal management controller (TMC), which can vary heat transfer rate via the ...

A Thermal Control System for Thermal Cycling
Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 1985Abstract A microprocessor-based system has been developed to control varying temperature during material characterization tests. The system controls temperature independently over four zones. Four control zones are used in order to provide two-dimensional temperature control on a flat plate specimen.
