Compressible Analysis of Bénard Convection of Magneto Rotatory Couple-Stress Fluid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2018
Thermal Instability (Benard’s Convection) in the presence of uniform rotation and uniform magnetic field (separately) is studied. Using the linearized stability theory and normal mode analyses the dispersion relation is obtained in each case. In the case

Inertial convection in rotating fluid spheres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The onset of convection in the form of inertial waves in a rotating fluid sphere is studied through a perturbation analysis in an extension of earlier work by Zhang (1994).

MHD mixed convection flow of third grade liquid subject to non-linear thermal radiation and convective condition

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2017
Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) mixed convection flow of third grade fluid by an exponentially stretching sheet is addressed. Energy expression involves the convective condition and non-linear thermal radiation.

Investigating thermal properties of gas-filled planetary regoliths using a thermal probe [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Instrumentation, Methods and Data Systems, 2012
We introduce a general purpose penetrator, fitted with a heater, for measuring temperature and thermal diffusivity. Due to its simplicity of deployment and operation the penetrator is well suited for remote deployment by spacecraft into a planetary ...

Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

Evaluation of the melting process of phase change materials in a tilted rectangular container: Experimental study

open access: yesEnergy and Built Environment
Natural convection plays a crucial role in improving the heat transfer efficiency during the phase change material (PCM) melting process. A major challenge is understanding the intensity and transformation of natural convection, which was strongly ...

Performance study of a solar chimney air heater

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2019
The thermal efficiency of conventional solar air heaters could be significantly improved by making some design configurations. In this study, a solar chimney air heater was employed and the effect of glazing, fins and convection (natural/forced) on the ...

Convergence of the Generalized Volume Averaging Method on a Convection-Diffusion Problem: A Spectral Perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A mixed formulation is proposed and analyzed mathematically for coupled convection-diffusion in heterogeneous medias. Transfer in solid parts driven by pure diffusion is coupled with convection-diffusion transfer in fluid parts.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.
