Thermal deformation of fuel elements

Soviet Atomic Energy, 1966
The authors calculate the temperature drops in the walls of cassette-type fuel elements under neutron fluxes with radial gradients. The thermal deformations of the wails are measured in the working range of temperature drops.

Thermally Activated Deformation of Potassium

physica status solidi (b), 1967
AbstractThe thermally activated deformation of single crystal and polycrystalline potassium is examined. It is shown that the activation parameters describing low‐temperature deformation can be correlated reasonably well with the b.c.c. transition metals on the basis of their respective shear moduli.

Management of Fingernail Deformities After Thermal Injury

Scandinavian Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1987
Fingernail deformities after thermal injury can be very disfiguring and troublesome. The fingernails may be discoloured, cleft or vertically deviated. From the pathophysiology of the nail growth in general, the specific features of the nail deformities after deep burn can be deduced, as can guidelines for the treatment.

Thermal Deformations in Electronic Packaging

1994
An understanding and documentation of the micromechanics of electronic devices is critical to the industry, and moire interferometry is taking a leadership role for experimental analyses. In the industry, the technology dealing with the interconnections of electronic components is called electronic packaging.

Particular behavior of spindle thermal deformation by thermal bending

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2003
Thermally induced errors reduce the accuracy in precision machining, and a great deal of research has been presented on compensation for these errors in machine tools. However, during the transition period after commencing or stopping spindle rotation, thermal deformation behavior is very complex.

A self-correction method for deformable mirror with thermal deformation

Optik, 2017
Abstract In high-power laser systems, temperature gradient distribution arises in optical components irradiated by a high-power continuous wave (CW) laser, leading to the thermal deformation of the optical components and further the degradation of the beam quality.

Analysis method of thermal dam deformation

Science China Technological Sciences, 2012
Based on the internal temperature variation of a dam lagging behind the ambient temperature variation, the ambient temperature of continuous variation is disctetized, and the functional expression of the thermal displacement component of the dam caused by single instantaneous temperature variation is obtained.

Thermally activated deformation of Alpha Zirconium

Crystal Research and Technology, 1984
AbstractThe effect of temperature on the yield stress of polycrystalline α‐zirconium has been examined at temperatures between 77 and 900 K. A strong temperature dependence of the yield stress (interrupted in the temperature ranges 300 to 400 K and 500 to 700 K where the yield stress is independent of temperature) indicates the occurence of the ...

Thermal Activation in Plastic Deformation

2000
Plastic deformation of crystalline solids, with metals as prominent examples, is due to the formation and movement of dislocations. Whenever the flow stress — i.e. the applied shear stress necessary to move dislocations — shows a temperature dependence exceeding the one of the shear modulus, usually a thermally activated process is controlling the ...

Thermal Expansion and Deformation of Graphene

Chinese Physics Letters, 2016
Taking into consideration short-atomic-range interactions and anharmonic effects, we calculate the thermal expansion coefficients, Gruneisen parameters, the elastic modulus of graphene varying with temperature and the phonon frequency. The anharmonic effects associated with the graphene deformation are also discussed. The results show that the value of
