Continuous monitoring of cerebral blood flow (CBF) has been an area under research to observe immediate changes in blood flow under a wide variety of circumstances. Recently, however, continuous monitoring of blood flow in the trauma cases has provided prognostic and therapeutic help in the management of these patients.

The Ludwig-Soret effect or thermal diffusion, which refers to the separation of liquid mixtures in a temperature gradient, is governed by a nonlinear, partial differential equation in space and time. It is shown here that the solution to the nonlinear differential equation for a binary mixture predicts the existence of shock waves completely analogous ...

Thermal Diffusion of Nucleotides
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2012We investigate the thermal diffusion behavior of aqueous solutions of nucleotides using an infrared thermal diffusion forced Rayleigh scattering (IR-TDFRS) setup. In this work we study 5 nucleotides: cyclic nucleotides adenosine and guanosine monophosphate, 5'-adenosine and 5'-cytidine monophosphate, and also adenosine diphosphate in water.

The tip of a rod is heated with a torch and brought into contact with the center of a metal sheet. A thermal camera is then used to image the temperature profile of the surface as a function of time. The infrared camera is capable of recording radiometric data with 1 mK resolution in nearly 105 pixels, so thermal diffusion can be monitored with ...
